If you’re wondering around KLCC or work in the area, you would know that finding affordable food can be a bit of a challenge. This area is known as the heart of the golden triangle and therefore has a high concentration of upscale hotels and commercial buildings.
Whether you’re here for business or leisure, you’re sure to be hankering for some cheap but cheerful chow. Here are some places you can check out that are within walking distance of KLCC, or just one of two train stations away.
1. RSMY House of Real Beriani
There are several RSMY branches near the Golden Triangle, and one of the more famous ones located at Medan Tuanku, which is near an LRT station with that same name just a few stations away from the KLCC one.
RSMY’s signature dish is their cheese naan, which comes chock full of delicious, melty parmesan cheese that you can pull for utmost satisfaction. The cheese naans here cost between RM 6 – RM10.50 depending on how much cheese you want.

2. Restoran Kudu bin Abdul
Nothing says Malaysian food quite a hearty plate of Nasi Kandar. This particular style of eating lets you pick and choose from a wide range of side dishes to pile onto your rice. The whole dish is doused in several curries to give you a tantalizingly spicy experience that isn’t too overwhelming.
Usually, you get to choose from fish, lamb, chicken or mutton curry with green veggies, prawns, squid and many more. You’ll be charged according to the amount of things you take. Usually, one meat or seafood with two vegetables or egg dish will come to about RM10 – RM15. Taking seafood will usually drive your price tag up a little more than usual.

3. Passion Road, KL
Passion Road is actually an event space used for weddings and other gatherings. However, they’re open during lunch on weekdays and serve set lunches that cost about RM11 – RM22. You can find sets below RM15 served with a chilled drink and dessert. Main courses in this price range have included Nasi Minyak and chicken, spicy fried rice, mee hoon soto, ginger flower rice and more. Desserts include sago pudding with gula Melaka, mango pudding, pulut hitam and others.

4. Warisan Nasi Kukus, Avenue K
Warisan is a café within Avenue K that serves traditional Malay steamed rice in a variety of flavours. You can choose your type of meat first, whether its ayam goring berempah, rending daging or lamb mysore. After that, there are five types of rice to choose from, whether its blue telang rice, nasi lemak, nasi pandan, white rice or brown rice. All of which have been steamed to perfection.
Those who aren’t in the mood for nasi kukus can choose from other noodle and rice dishes like mee siam and asam laksa. Prices start at RM11 and you can have many main dishes for less than RM 15.

5. NZ Curry House, KLCC
NZ Curry House is located just opposite the main entrance of Suria KLCC. It’s one of those quintessential Malaysian mamaks that serve familiar and authentic Malaysian comfort foods like Mee Goreng, Roti Canai, Indomee, Maggi Goreng and a whole lot more. You can get a filling meal here for less than RM10. A plate of roti telur costs about RM 2.40 whereas nasi goreng ayam (chicken fried rice) is about RM7.50.

6. Tapak Urban Dining, KLCC
We’ve definitely mentioned Tapak before in our list of lesser known food trucks in KL. That’s because Tapak is a food truck park and there’s one just down the road from KLCC. There are more than 30 trucks here and you can find Wester, Asian, Malaysian and fusion creations for less than RM 15. Some of the highlights here are the nasi ayam goring kunyit, jumbo burgers, spaghetti and meatballs, huge chilled juices and pizza.

There are a ton of interesting and affordable outlets around KLCC as long as you’re brave enough to explore. Remember, if you go off the beaten track into the alleyways, you’re bound to find cheap and cheerful food. Just be sure to stay safe and travel in numbers.
