Genting Highlands Arena of Stars showcases a very special Christmas Eve with the soulful sounds of the music of Earth, Wind & Fire from Al McKay's Earth Wind & Fire Experience.
In 1990, Earth Wind & Fire ‘groove director’ and guitarist Al McKay decided to recapture the spirit of the former group. Putting together a band – some from EWF, some inspired by EWF – for a special performance in Japan.
Chemistry bloomed and the grouping became permanent under the name ‘LA Allstars’. Built around EWF’s distinctive original rhythm section and McKay’s guitar work, the band recreates the magic of Earth, Wind and Fire, playing all those ambitious songs in the original keys with the original feel to recapture the original magic.
Led by the super guitarist himself, Al McKay’s Earth, Wind & Fire Experience includes musicians who formed part of EWF’s long and illustrious history including trumpeters Michael Harris and Rahmlee Michael Davis, trombonist Louis Satterfield, saxophonist Andrew Woolfolk and keyboardist Johnny Graham. With the essential rhythm section established, the band is also backed by the incredible vocals of Tim Owens and is fully primed to perform an incredible setlist of EWF hits including fan favourites such as Serpentine Fire, Pride, Saturday Nite and Jupiter to create a remarkable Christmas Eve this year.
