Greg Lyons, the British saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and jazz mentor brings his latest project the Black Sheep Collective to No Black Tie in Kuala Lumpur for 2 nights 15 & 16 March 2019 of modern jazz explorations.
Black Sheep Collective is an outcome of his mentorship program Groove Works, and introduces some strong new talents that have been a part of the program in recent years.
The material to explore comes from the recent writings of some of the top global jazz composers, including Dave Holland, Pierre De Bethmann, Seamus Blake, Hermeto Pascoal, and Lyons himself.
The band: Issei Suzuki on drums, Fabian Lee on bass, Amery Reuben on piano, Bobby Leonidas on trumpet, Greg Lyons on saxophones.
Currently based out of Singapore, Lyons is becoming known to an ever-increasing network of listeners for a commitment to making original music of an eclectic nature combining elements of his whole musical evolution - which includes representations of jazz, classical, funk, rock, pop, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, avant-garde, folk and lots more.
