KL duo Brown Rice start a bimonthly party at Jiro this Friday 1 March with special guest Ed Dix and here’s a little about LZZY and RIMKA as BROWN RICE and the party they’re planning from the girls themselves.
“We have been playing together for about 3-4 years now and Brown Rice naturally came about because Rimka is brown (Punjabi) and Lzzy is rice (Chinese). In the past year we have regularly played together and developed our style together as a duo, we flow from house to techno to disco, happy high energy music! Now Jiro has given us the opportunity to throw our own party.”
“Why The Cooker? When we play together we are known as Brown Rice so that's why The Cooker (like rice cooker); also we plan to bring the heat with music that's why we are seeing the room/the dance floor space like a pressure cooker.”
“For Night extras we will be having a VJ (Akasha Visuals) who will be doing projection mapping of food related/cooking visuals and boozy snacks like macha jelly with sake (every event we will change the boozy alcoholic induced food so it won't just the same for every one of our nights).
“For future plans hopefully we will be able to expand this party into a brand that showcases both our styles, building it into something unique that allows us to do pop ups in different cities and host some international acts locally.”
They’ll be inviting special guest DJs each time as well and to start off their guest DJ list will be Ed Dix. Ed Dix's sound is defined by his high-octane performances and unparalleled ability to engage and connect with the crowd, propelled forward from the debris of techno, indie dance and hard drive. Essentially, his intention with his style is to make interesting club music that has emotional resonance.
