Daydream goes 20 on November 26
The Daydream Pool Party hits Edition 20 this SUNDAY NOVEMBER 26 at Luna Bar, with nine hours of poolside fun starting from 3pm till midnight covering dance music from hip hop to sunset chill house to techno and basically everything in between.
Two special guests feature this Sunday with Datan (UK) and Armando Mendes (POR) making their Daydream debuts.
David Queripel aka ‘Datan’ is a name that is well recognised in the UK and South East Asia. From an early age Datan was surrounded by house music lovers. At the ripe age 16 years old he started collecting records creating a very particular sound and style.
He hit his local music scene with this style and immediately got the attention of the local promotors. Playing in line ups with big name DJs such as Eddie Halliwell, Tall Paul & Terry Francis to name a few became a regular occurrence for Datan.
He started running his own event in his hometown Guernsey called ‘motion’ which represented forward thinking house music, filling dancefloors with love and energy for house music became the brand. Shortly after this success Datan made the leap to SE Asia where his sound was instantly noticed landing residencies at the best bars beach parties and pool parties on Koh Phi Phi.
Adaptability and versatility are two words that spring to mind when the name is mentioned. His sound is across the boarder going from deep lying soulful house, all the way to bass line heavy rolling House and techno. Furthermore his ability to read and reform a crowd is unparalleled.
Born in Oporto, Portugal. Armando Mendes was raised surrounded with music and arts by his family and friends. From a young age he started to play instruments and where later on he developed a especial affection for the bass guitar and double bass.
Studio rehearsals, live shows, funk and jazz bands were a part of his teenage years which gave him a intense musical background and musical composition apprenticeship.
Later on drawn by Detroit and Chicago House and Techno music, artist like Larry Heard, Frankie Knucles, Moodyman, Theo Parrish, Kerry Chandler, Jeff Mills, became a huge influence on Armando’s musical journey, hence he decided to take a step into electronic music and move to Barcelona in 2008 to study audio engineering and electronic music production at SAE.
From the acquired studies and inspired by the vibrant electronic music scene in the city he started to produce is own music from 2010 till the present date releasing on his own label, Turquoise Records and other international labels such has legendary German label Raygun Records were he release his proclaimed debut album “Sun7 – Into Deep “ back in 2012.
Throughout his career he played in private events and clubs all over Europe, Russia, Dubai and Asia. Were he also shared the decks with Robert Owens, Tensnake, Ben Pearce, Gardens of God, and many others of the genre.
After a summer DJ residency at W St Petersburg in 2015 and four years being a resident dj at the outstanding W Barcelona hotel, he moved in early 2016 to Thailand where currently Armando takes the position of W Music Curator for the extraordinary W Retreat Koh Samui well known by their beach parties, stunning Woobar views and night life entertainment on the Island.
Lee Kemp makes a return to Daydream and you’ll also get to enjoy the sounds of R&B and hip hop plus house and tech and chill out vibes from residents Alex Martin, Kuma, Helmie and Kooler, with Axam live on saxophone.
