Ending the year with a bang, re: LIVE by From The Live Decks powered by Kardinal was a major success attracting over 60 attendees throughout the 3-days 2-nights boot camp experience taking place at Momo’s Kuala Lumpur - the city’s first social hotel.
“We were pleasantly surprised and thrilled that so many music enthusiasts came together during the boot camp. We at Kardinal are humbled and inspired to be part of this experience,” commented Ronald Yeo, Creative Director of Kardinal after experiencing re:LIVE personally.
Attendees made up of a variety of producers, vocalists, songwriters, and DJs from different backgrounds and genres gathered for a meaningful yet empowering experience to heighten their musical knowledge and relive-ed their creative musical journey through a weekend creative escapade.
“It’s exciting to hear how inspired and talented these young Malaysian artists are, creating sonics that is unlike anywhere else in the Western world. I’d like to encourage the best of the best to continue showing us what you got for future competitions throughout Asia, and I'm looking forward to hearing your music soon,” said Maximillian Yu, Head A&R of the #1 US dance music label - Astralwerks.
Attendees were pushed beyond their limits at the boot camp while they tested out their skills in the songwriting and remix challenges. Challengers were tasked to finish a track remix or a brand new original within a span of 24-hours. A total of 6 remixes and 4 original demos were submitted within the given time limit. Arthur Davis, a student from Indonesia studying in Kuala Lumpur won the remix challenge; while a trio by Kyeson, Nicole Mah, and Sophia Shann won first place in the songwriting challenge with their song “Without Your Love”.
The Music Director at HITZ.FM - Navin Rishal agreed that this event was indeed empowering, engaging, and inspiring; and that he hopes FTLD’s initiative can be succeeded as an annual event to motivate upcoming and young musicians in the near future.
Overall, the event was a huge success with positive feedback and amazing outcomes. The organizing committee will be looking forward to curating the next chapter of community building activations by From The Live Decks again. Tentative dates have been set by the organizing crew for June 2022.
