Daydream Pool Party Vol 9 at KL Journal
THE NINTH edition of what’s been the most talked about Pool Party around town comes up this Sunday as Daydream continues to gather pace. Brought to you by a collaboration of passionate people; Alex Martin Productions, Hi Volt Productions and Mantra Bar, it has been two months months now since this pool party debuted in the Klang Valley scene. After eight editions being held over at Petaling Jaya, just on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, party organisers have decided to shift it to Downtown Central in Bukit Bintang, KL, more specifically, to Kuala Lumpur Journal starting this Sunday.
So you can expect nine hours of poolside fun starting from 3pm till midnight, featuring local and international DJs and performers covering a wide genre of music from hip hop to sunset chill house to techno and basically everything in between.
Now two months in, we do ask though, what was the dream behind it all? After all, the party pretty much suddenly sprung out of almost nowhere to become one of the most in demand day time events in the local clubbing calendar.
“Well, it really was that myself and my other partners who are passionate in our own respective fields saw the opportunity and decided to take it on,” said co-founder Alex Martin.
And as for calling it Daydream, “we sat down one evening in Mantra, and was wondering what to call it, and one our partners just said "Daydream", and there it was, in like 10 mins.”
The initial idea was supposed to be something of a day to just chill, watch the sunset after having a crazy week in and out about town, he continued. “But it guess it has grown to be really more of a “weekend continuation party”.
With the music and DJs invited to play at the party, Martin continued, “we are keeping the music mainly around house music, but in the earlier hours we do play some R&B, hip hop until just about sunset and then we change on to chill house, and from there on it just takes off till the midnight close. We have a good mix of the local circuit DJs as well as visiting international / regional acts.”
And now, as for the move itself, Martin added: “we wanted to be right in KL now, as it's a hub for tourist. And what better space than a hidden gem like KL Journal.”
And so, looking forward to this Sunday then, residents Alex Martin, Kuma and J-Sun, with Clavin Clarke on percussions, helm the party, and joining them this Sunday will be DJ Mie, Rob G and Niall F from the Connected crew as well as Lee Kemp.
