KL International Jazz in the Garden December 9
For the first time, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) together with KL International Jazz is organizing the “KL International Jazz in the Gardens” at Panggung Anniversari, Lake Gardens (Taman Botani Perdana) on Saturday, 9th December 2017.
With an international line up of stellar jazz musicians – Nominee for “Jazz Group of the Year”, The Lao Tizer Band featuring Nelson Rangell from USA, The Hiroyuki Yagi Jazz Quartet from Japan together with local jazz groups Fusion 5 and the KL Experimental Jazz Project – the one night jazz concert will showcase contemporary jazz, straight ahead, and jazz rock fusion music.
This is a continuation of the KL International Jazz Festival held from the 14th-16th September 2017 at University Malaya, at Rendez-Vous, Bangsar (a French restaurant) and at the Commune, Sunway Velocity Mall.
The KL International Jazz & Arts Festival has been held since 2012 and the festival has been supported by DBKL since inception.
As a Country Brand Laureate winner, the KL International Jazz Festival is known for presenting international jazz artists of high repute.
Over the years, it had presented Grammy winners such as David Sanborn, Lee Ritenour (twice), Ernie Watts, NEA Jazz Master Ahmad Jamal (New York), Incognito, Hiromi (twice), Simon Philips, Keiko Matsui, Anthony Jackson, Simone, Eric Wyatt (twice), Lao Tizer (twice) and many other world class artistes from all over the world including South Africa.
The KL International Jazz in the Gardens marks Lao Tizer’s third time performing in Malaysia.
The idea to hold an International Jazz concert at the Lake Gardens actually started a few years ago. However, the venue was undergoing major renovations and was only reopened late last year. The venue is an amphitheater with a covered roof and it recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
To encourage the public to experience this American art form which has spread around the world, and in recent years becoming a global phenomena, entrance is free for the public.
Although, the public is allowed to walk in, the Organizers encourage the public to register their names and contact details to build a community of jazz music lovers who can be updated regularly regarding upcoming jazz concerts and festivals.
