JANUARY 11/12: A Tribute to Amy Winehouse : Love is Blind at NBT

A show designed to tell the stories of Amy Winehouse. who wrote her music to speak to everyone, whether in love, in pain or just to observe, she had something for every one. With her very own Robin Banerjee on guitar and your very own Dasha Logan on vocals, let the music of Amy Winehouse kick start your year with music of love and acceptance.

Dasha Logan has been singing professionally for the past 12 years. Being a big fan of jazz, funk, soul and RnB, she just loves singing. Daughter to legendary Loganathan from the Alleycats, she has been exposed to the music life and scene from a very young age and been passionate about it since she could remember. Dasha rocked Istana Budaya with the Alleycats in September 2011 and The Rock and Roots festival in Singapore in 2012 along the likes of Earth, Wind and Fire and The Specials. In 2015 she performed for Malaysia Day in London at Trafalgar Square. Dasha has also taken part in the Penang Island Jazz Festival and Jarasum Jazz Festival in Korea in 2010, and more recently at Borneo Jazz Festival 2018. She also brought in 2012 at Straits Quay in Penang alongside the Aseana Percussion Unit. Dasha has performed multiple stints in London and has released an album (available on iTunes) and video clip. Her first single 'Cleverly' topped the UK Soul Chart in December 2014.

Robin Banerjee has been playing guitar professionally for 20 years, performing alongside Jazz Jamaica, reggae jazz big band and latterly with the great Amy Winehouse in her live band from 2006-2008. Robin has a passion for jazz and modern and classic pop music infusing the richness of the singers he accompanies with the acoustic and electric guitars. Robin grew up listening to George Benson, Wes Montgomery and Pat Metheny. He has a passion for jazz improvisation and accompanying vocalists, as he sees that as an artform in itself.

JANUARY 12:  Warehouse Sessions #17 at Ril’s

Warehouse Sessions is back featuring:

Ariff Akhir: a singer, musician, songwriter, music producer and sound engineer. As a solo act and also frontman for his band, The Sofa Sessions, Ariff has been performing live for almost 20 years. Behind the scenes, Ariff has composed, arranged, recorded, engineered and produced audio and music for local artists, advertisements, film, television, theatre and live shows. Follow him: https://www.instagram.com/ariffakhir/

Straight from the burrows, H.F. Badger (alter-ego of singer-songwriter, Bob Ooi) is a bi-pedal creature that has zero physical resemblance to a Honey Badger. However, they both share two common traits - they both like to live alone (to an extent) and they’re notorious for their bad temperament. This particular (and rather peculiar) badger kept on digging through life’s struggles before he uttered these words - “Enough is enough”.  He crawled out of his deep, dark hole and went back to his first love, music. Drawing many musical influences in his life (including Dallas Green from City & Colour and Josh Tillman aka Father John Misty), HFB channeled his thoughts of his personal battles with love, life and religion through hill-billy, folk music that people seem to poorly categorise it as ‘hipster music’. Let HFB enthral you with his folk guitar playing, his smooth yet robust singing voice and the occasional yodelling. Follow him: https://www.instagram.com/hfbadger/

A vibrant, energetic performer, Heerraa is exploring the indie scene with her original songs about life, awareness, love and just being happy, to spread joy and brighten up people's day! So far having released 2 singles, Victorious and Feeling High, Heerraa is currently in the midst of recording her next single as well as collaborating with other local artist. Heerraa has also been featured in the Malay Mail for her decision to stick to her passion and pursue music, and has also won Short + Sweet Song Malaysia 2017's Festival Director's Award, awarded by Dato' Faridah Merican herself. Catch this quirky rockstar as she performs as mix of covers and original songs - leaving them ringing in your head.  Follow her: https://www.instagram.com/heerraaofficial/
