David Bowie Tribute Night by Johan Sultan & The Moonbeams at NBT

Formed in 2017. Johan Sultan & The Moonbeams is a project band led by Johan Sultan specifically for David Bowie tribute shows. The band have been involved in 3 very well celebrated David Bowie tributes at No Black Tie and The Gaslight KL. In 2018 the band presented David’s final masterpiece Blackstar the entire album from start to finish. Definitely it was a night to remember. And after 9 months, they are back for a weekly show playing David’s classics and hits every Wednesday this November.

Q Sound at NBT

Q Sound is a versatile and dynamic trombonist, bandleader, singer-songwriter and composer who performs and explores a wide array of musical genres. Q Sound was born in Wichita Falls, TX grew up in Fort Smith, AR. He moved to New York City to study music in 2003. Since moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2009, he has profoundly contributed to the development of the growing jazz/art music culture in SE Asia. Through his band, Q Sound has led numerous performances at jazz venues throughout the region, including sold-out performances at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas as part of DFP’s Happy Hour Series.

Al Terry is an Australian blues harmonica player and vocalist who specialises in the amplified harp tone of Chicago blues masters such as Big Walter Horton and Little Walter. Al is joined by the Purple Haze Blues Band for their Chicago Blues Revue featuring classics from the likes of Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, James Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite, Paul Butterfield, Jr Wells, Billy Boy Arnold, Willie Dixon and many more. The evening also incorporates swinging West Coast Jump Blues and a little Rock & Roll for a night of high-energy, toe tapping up-tempo music; punctuated by some low-down, speak-easy Chicago Blues. Al is a blues front-man who sings and plays with taste and raw power.
