Aaron Teoh & WVC at NBT
Back for a short break in between touring cities with musical The King & I alongside Ken Watanabe and Kelli O'hara, Aaron Teoh is set to perform an eclectic evening of musicals and jazz standards accompanied by the WVC Jazz Ensemble!
Originally formed as a trio, WVC became a quartet with the addition of their fourth member, Julian Chan who plays the saxophone. Having released five instrumental albums and toured around the region since their inception, WVC has explored different musical genres whilst still maintaining the foundation of jazz in its core. One of their forte is coming up with jazz re-arrangements to suit to the times by transforming unlikely pop tunes, Chinese and oriental classics, and mainstream hit tunes into new jazzy tunes.

Frankie Sixes: A Night of Swing Jazz at NBT
The Frankie Sixes is a swing jazz side project of AIM award-winning singer-songwriter, Reza Salleh. His debut album Realise topped radio charts the year of its release and has led him to perform around the globe, such as Australia, Korea, Thailand and Japan to name a few. The band consists of Ee Jeng on keys, one of the most well known jazz musicians in the local jazz scene and is seen normally leading Ee Jeng Trio or Funkatorie. On double bass is Che Wan, who has played for some of the top jazz practitioners in the Malaysian music industry, such as Michael Veerapen and Junji Delfino. Outside of jazz he’s sessions for the likes of Yuna, Tony Eusoff and Guba. On drums is KJ, who trained musically at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.

tfvsjs is a five-piece instrumental rock band from Hong Kong. Formed in 2003 and starting out as a post-hardcore and screamo outfit, the band eventually grew into a music style a little less direct – instrumental math rock with a Canton twist. Whether it’s their penchant for complex rhythms, or their ear for distinctive Chinese melodies, tfvsjs has slowly but surely become a unique creative force in Hong Kong music. Music has always been a part of Andrea's life, but it is only of recent years that she found her true passion in singing and composition. Being rather soft-spoken on stage, she allows her soothing vocals to do most of the talking for her. While she composes based on personal events or imagination, this new kid on the block is determined and passionate about sharing her sound to as many people as possible. Andrea recently released her first single in 2015, titled "Yours" on her Youtube channel. The tune is a quirky one portraying young love. Nazrin Mohammad & friends at NBT
Muhammad Nazrin is a guitarist/composer from Kuala Lumpur who is known for his session work with singers of various styles in the diverse creative scene in Malaysia. As a musician that loves to dabble in blues, R&B, soul, jazz, and fusion, he has worked with Asiabeat, Julian Chan Jazz Orchestra, QSound, and WVC Malaysian Jazz Ensemble among others. Nazrin released his first EP 'Homecoming' back in 2017, an acoustic guitar instrumental album and has recorded for various artists and projects in Kuala Lumpur. His latest release ‘Revisit’, recorded in trio format, showcases his idea of instrumentals that are inspired by multiple genres, with melodic and lyrical guitar playing.
