JUNE 6: Poolside Open Mic #92 ft  Eloise Lau

Eloise Lau is a folk-pop singer-songwriter who has written songs in the full range of the emotional spectrum, from not wanting to get our of bed to wanting to watch a person burn and fall. An experienced performer, she has graced the stages at both local and international venues - as the only Malaysian representative at the 2013 ChildAid Asia concert in Tokyo and most recently at Urbanscapes2017's #rediscoverKL.

 

 

In 2016, she embarked on an ambitious song-writing project as a part of her thesis in her final year of university, which gained recognition from local press. She was also nominated as one of the best College/Uni acts at the 2016 VIMA awards and was interviewed as a featured guest Astro VBuzz which was aired exclusively on local TV. John Ashley Thomas is a renowned drummer who has been playing the drums since the age of 3. He has toured the Blue Note Circuit in Japan with Motown Legends and worked alongside Grammy-winning flautist Nestor Torres. John has played at numerous jazz festivals such as the Jarasum International Jazz Festival, Jazz Yatra International Jazz Festival, Hong Kong International Jazz Festival and ARTS ALIVE! International Festival in South Africa.

...and the Warehouse Sessions is back but this time as a curated evening of independent wholesome indie goodness happening twice* a month on Saturdays. Featuring this Saturday:


Alien Lipstick Fire: Malaysian based Modern Indie Rock band influenced and inspired by different indie bands such as Bombay Bicycle Club, Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and many more.  Taking different elements from the different bands to create their own unique sound (or at least try to). Actively performing in several indie gigs since 2015, the band is determined to put out music that is engaging and “pleasant to the ears”. JUNE 10/11:  Ivory Series: Preludes in the Shadow

Ivory Series is the brainchild of Malaysian classical pianist Mei Lin Hii, aiming to combine classical music with various living art forms such as visual arts, dance, and poetry. With its monthly thematic happenings, the Ivory Series has seen collaboration and experimentation from paper art installation to dance duet, from poetry reading to video mapping, all within the intimate frame of a piano recital or a chamber music concert.  This night Hii performs Bach and Chopin preludes with Soh Kim Loke on Light Design and Anne D on paper art.
