DECEMBER 15 : Alex Martin and Kuma at Le Noir KL

Le Noir KL presents Alex Martin x Kuma on the roof with deep and tech house and techno all night.

Le Noir resident Kuma is one of the few established DJs from Malaysia who plays across Asia and Europe. With those signature underground techno and techno based sounds, he's earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across Asia, including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand), Womb (Tokyo), and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Haadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand), Epizode (Vietnam), regular Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan) appearances to add to appearances in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Ibiza.

Alex Martin has been a fixture in the local and regional scene now for the better part of this new decade. Custodian of deep, rhythmic dance beats and a care-free atmosphere. That’s how Alex describes himself as a DJ, never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy.

Both have been key players in the local underground when they co-founded then KL underground institution Quinte at the beginning of this decade and most recently the Daydream Pool Parties.

In the Club Lounge, DJs Charleston Cornelius, Dougie J and DJ K (open format) hold down their regular Attica Friday night slots in the club playing open format and EDM, with DJ Kooler in the mix downstairs.

DECEMBER 15 : Dreamscape featuring DJ JP Lantieri at DWP

Featuring a very Special Edition of Dreamscape at the new DWP featuring London-based French DJ JP Lantieri who has played at some of London’s best clubs including EGG and Ministry of Sound.

DECEMBER 15 : Kyo Fridays for all

In the Ren Room at Kyo KL, Xes Xes Loveseat for the night. Expect tough and heavy house and disco edits mixed with interplanetary sounds; think dancing tunes made of machine-emotions and cosmic randomness. It's the spirits' liberation jam and he’s one of Malaysia’s leading lights in keeping the vinyl movement alive.

His underground indie credentials have included being the resident DJ for Dance Punk Party (DPP) and was a regular guest for Deer Society nights. Besides the usual club fare, he has curated music for fashion labels, art exhibitions and music festivals. So far, some of the acts he has had the pleasure to open for are Apparat, Aeroplane, Hercules & Love Affair, Osunlade, Horse Meat Disco’s Jim and Severino, and many more.

In the Kyo Room: Aku Ash and friends with DJ Hawk and Nahsyk this night. A well known name in the local Hip Hop scene, DJ Aku Ash fills up the club with his mean mixes and high-energy blends. Having held residencies at some of the city's best clubs over the years, Aku Ash is one of the hip hop genre's leading authorities in Asia. From perfecting the art of cutting to beat matching, once Aku Ash is behind the turntables, look forward to a night of non-stop dancing and good times. Nahsyk, a young 21 year old Eurasian DJ and music producer from KL with a heart and passion for music, is one artist that is blowing up very quickly and in many directions. DJ Hawk’s been in the KL scene since 2012, with his first residency at Elixir, Bukit Bintang then later made a number of appearances at various clubs and events in KL. His style covers genres from retro, hip hop and R&B, commercial, house to EDM.

DECEMBER 15 : Mr Chew’s Vinyl Sessions featuring Disko Santan

A collective of local vinyl enthusiasts, providing DJs for events and gigs. Rock, funk, psychedelic, jazz, electronica, boogie, cumbia, Nusantara sounds from them. Santan is the coconut milk, the liquid that comes from the grated meat of a mature coconut. The opacity and rich taste of coconut milk are attributed to its high oil content, most of which is saturated fat.

Coconut milk is a popular food ingredient used in Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Malaysian and 'santan' are like the river and bank, sea and shore that need each other and we consume santan almost everyday to add flavours in our meals. So does Disko Santan with a mission is to add flavour into your music selections.

DECEMBER 15 : Thrift Shop Beast Friday with Fasha Anderson and DJ Low

Fasha Anderson: Not your ordinary female DJ, Fasha has been colouring the Malaysian DJ scene since 2008. And with influences from music and skills of the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Q-Bert, Jurassic 5, DJ Craze and DJ Nu Mark, she cuts a swathe through the likes of R&B, hip hop, funk, soul, Korean hip hop, trap, moombah and twerk.

DJ Low: Club event promoter, DJ academy owner and Malaysian drum'n'bass pioneer, DJ Low has been in the forefront of the local clubbing industry for 18 years now and under the Loops Collective banner, chalks up a hefty list of A-grade artistes in the genre who have graced out shores this year, including the likes of Andy C, LTJ Bukem, Alix Perez and Black Sun Empire. House wise, he’s co-founded the House of Chemistry nights and he’s also label head to the now increasingly active Take Off Records, which is beginning to see releases in the music range of beats, bass, drum’n’bass, house, breaks and more.

The Click 2 Klick (C2K) project was born in 2015 when FunkayroL and Adam Khan met and, after separate and successful careers in their own sounds decided to join and give birth to something global and ambitious. After obtaining several important approvals by music critics, C2K been busy with their productions and active bookings by promoters and clubs night highly demanding their sounds from deep house to progressive journey techno tunes.

This duo have experienced share decks grade A acts such as Sasha, Dosem, Jay Lumen, Darin Epsilon, Yousef, Mark Farina to name a few. C2K sounds are always characterized by their personal atmosphere. Their powerful grooves, sounds and the original and electric style in finding arrangements, have now become a point of reference in the sounds of such labels as Anjunadeep, Knee Deep in Sound, Hot Creations, Lost & Found and Defected in the House.

DECEMBER 16 : Ren Room at Kyo KL with Ed Dix and Odd

Ed Dix, the late night juggernaut at the forefront of KL’s fast growing underground scene. In amidst the titanic dark and underground movement lies a character who sticks out like a sore thumb with his uplifting and distinctive sound of Techno – Ed Dix. His only rule is to push the boundaries of conventional electronic music exploring new directions while never losing sight of his core passions – playing music and celebrating life. Techno with a rough, French and Belgium bent is his main preference, interspersed with 80s synth, enchanting grooves or timeless electro cuts.

He has always been a musician in love with and addicted to music where his raw passion for music started when he was 15 by forming a band as a drummer, drawing influence from Joy Division, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Depeche Mode. Driven by an acute sense for timing and the love of timeless music, Ed Dix continues to dive deeper into electronic sounds. From there his love for DJing really took form, kick started his imminent DJ career, started making his mixtapes which were favoured in a trice by his peers and has developed an interest in mixing vinyl himself.

From experience playing in a range of settings, from small underground parties to big clubs and festivals, a natural path towards playing as a DJ became established & has been going from strength to strength over the past few years.

DJ Odd aka Oddicon: from the deepest of psytrance through to techno, Oddicon can be one Malaysia’s mysteries who has scoured the underground psytrance scenes, local, Asian, Europe and beyond. With deep links to Vantara Vichitra Records as well as his own Altered Visions community.

DECEMBER 16 : Music Is Love at Bait Intermark

Saturdays at Bait Intermark on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur sees the Da Funkie Junkie curated Music is Love nights with Da Funkie Junkie and Kubika on resident music duties.

The music policy for the night, in terms of vibe and ambience, is to capture the spirit, essence and music integrity of legendary clubs and nights like “Paradise Garage”, “Body & Soul”, “The Loft”, “The Shelter” and “Cielo” in New York; “The Warehouse” and “Music Box” in Chicago, and more contemporary clubs like “Respect Is Burning” and “Secret” in Paris; the early days of “Ministry of Sound” and the funk and cheekiness of “Scaramanga” in London.

According to Da Funkie Junkie, aka Donovan Tho, the focus is to capture and innovate, but not duplicate.

The musical ethos is inspired by legendary DJs Larry Levan and David Mancuso and their modern incarnations, Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro and Danny Krivit.

The early hours will provide customers with an opportunity to discover the “roots” of dance music i.e. soul, funk, jazz, disco and Afro-latin beats. The latter stages of the night will build towards current and classic deep soulful house, disco house and garage.

As Bait Intermark is a restaurant cum bar and not a full-fledged club, the music will be down-tempo to mid-tempo but uplifting, exuding positive energy. The music will be soulful and organic, classy and elegant.

Technologue is back. Expect some serious techno in the basement with Technologue heads Killabudu (Notion A - Official & Westokan), joined by Yenn Lim and Azlan doing the duties of pushing the radical sounds of the underground. Be prepared for non-conformity and a quality night with no pretenses, as they are all about bringing you the raw nocturnal energy that is the spirit of techno as they pay homage to the 4/4 sounds that was better chronicled in warehouses during the late 90s and early 2000s.
