Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano at Zouk KL

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano at Zouk Kuala Lumpur

ZOUK KL Main Room presents Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano. Dutch DJ/producers Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano, two notable personalities with a single goal: to entertain as many people as possible with their deep and funky house sound, make their practically annual return to Zouk KL decks.

As a DJ duo, they are irresistible. Put them in a DJ booth together, you get instant interaction and chemistry, with an eye for the audience and an ear for each other. Effortlessly adapting to one another seems to be no problem for these two best friends and partners in crime.

They have quickly ascended into the upper echelon of dance music producers with the release of monster anthems like ‘Tribeca’ and their remake of Tiesto’s ‘Lethal Industry.’

Fans and tastemakers all have supported each Sunnery and Ryan release with the latter track being a weapon of choice for Armin van Buuren, Sander van Doorn, David Guetta and the list goes on.

Sunnery and Ryan convey that passion to the dance floor in a way very few artists can. See them one time and you will understand. With Zouk residents Bate and Radz on support duties.

Music is Love

Saturdays at Bait Intermark on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur will see the return of the Da Funkie Junkie curated Music is Love nights after a hiatus of some six months.

Dj Kubika Kuala Lumpur

Beginning NOVEMBER 11, joining the veteran Malaysian house pioneer Da Funkie Junkie on resident duties will be Kubika.

The music policy for the night, in terms of vibe and ambience, is to capture the spirit, essence and music integrity of legendary clubs and nights like “Paradise Garage”, “Body & Soul”, “The Loft”, “The Shelter” and “Cielo” in New York; “The Warehouse” and “Music Box” in Chicago, and more contemporary clubs like “Respect Is Burning” and “Secret” in Paris; the early days of “Ministry of Sound” and the funk and cheekiness of “Scaramanga” in London.

Dj Da Funkie Junkie Kuala Lumpur

According to Da Funkie Junkie, aka Donovan Tho, the focus is to capture and innovate, but not duplicate.

The musical ethos is inspired by legendary DJs Larry Levan and David Mancuso and their modern incarnations, Dimitri from Paris (our dear friend), Joey Negro and Danny Krivit.

The early hours will provide customers with an opportunity to discover the “roots” of dance music i.e. soul, funk, jazz, disco and Afro-latin beats. The latter stages of the night will build towards current and classic deep soulful house, disco house and garage.

As Bait Intermark is a restaurant cum bar and not a full-fledged club, the music will be down-tempo to mid-tempo but uplifting, exuding positive energy. The music will be soulful and organic, classy and elegant.

Lazy Sunday Special presents Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium at Pisco Bar.

Fred P at Pisco Bar Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur

Lazy Sunday announces the first of its "Special" edition Sundays with house music legend Fred P. AKA Black Jazz Consortium!.

Anyone who has followed the development of house music made in the USA in the last decade will certainly have met the art of Fred Peterkin aka Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium.

Since a while the New York City native that is working on his very own music for almost 20 years is on everyone's lips as he is releasing some of the gentlest soul infiltrated four-to-the-floor house creations you can get. His musical set phrase isn't new or special as he is often simply melting shuffling percussions with elementary melodies. But he does it in a sense that the heavy used and abused phrase "deepness" finally gets a fresh truthfully new meaning.

As a man who danced in his younger years in legendary NYC clubs like The Red Zone, Sound Factory or Tunnel to DJ sets of larger-than-life selectors like David Morales, Frankie Knuckles or Danny Tenaglia, he learned that sometimes less is more, and that he should rather listen to his heart and soul, then to the susurrus of the music market.

That is why you can call his house music journey music, music to travel. Sometimes it is an introspective and meditative journey sometimes an inspirational and lively one.

This Sunday at Pisco Bar he will be joined by Axel Groove B2B DJ Azran, JonnyVicious and Xes Xes Loveseat.
