From live music to comedy, from jazz to classical, from indie pop to hard rock, it’s a busy week ahead here in the Kuala Lumpur scene. Here are just some highlights of what’s on offer in and around the Klang Valley.

Alright Gandhi Live #AtTheBee
Alright Gandhi are an exciting unearthed diamond of a band from Berlin, Germany. The international trio of Rosa, Pietro and Dominick will play their first ever show in Kuala Lumpur at The Bee on the auspicious Friday the 13th in the spooky Halloween-laden month of October.
Lovers of experimental and spontaneous music will undoubtedly be entertained. Joining them will be fellow left-field musicians Kyoto Protocol and The Color Noise.

Crackhouse Presents Paul Johnson's (US) Comedy Algorithim
Paul Johnson has performed as a comedy headliner in the US, Asia and Europe, and recently debuted his one-man show 'The Cool Kids' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He has worked with comedians Jimmy Shubert, Dwayne Perkins, Tom Rhodes, DC Benny, Butch Bradley, and Glenn Wool. Paul has been described as 'un-dislike-able' (Shanghaiist), 'a handsome Todd Barry' (DC Benny), and 'an emotionally distant son' (Edith Johnson). Paul is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post Comedy page.
He wrote two popular columns for Time Out Shanghai magazine. The back page 'Slice of Life' humor column, and 'Inside Job' in which he tries a new job for a day. Paul's personal humor blog The Good Greatsby has been awarded 'Freshly Pressed' status five times by Wordpress.com as the best of Wordpress blogs. It frequently ranks at the top or near the top of Wordpress humor blogs as measured by 'Wordpress Recommends'.

Great Thirds at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas
British conductor Mark Wigglesworth guests with the Malaysian Philharmonic Ochestra this weekend. They open this concert with Shostakovich’s exhilarating Festive Overture written to commemorate the 1917 October Revolution. Malaysian pianist Foo Mei Yi returns to Dewan Filharmonik Petronas to perform Beethoven’s grand Third Piano Concerto with its Classical-Romantic beauties. Rachmaninoff’s Third Symphony, with its melodious late Russian Romanticism, concludes this concert of two great Thirds that you should not miss.
