Penang-based American writer, composer, and lyricist Nancy Jenster will be coming to KL on 7 and 8 September 2019 to delight family audiences with high energy, entertaining and humorous musical look at the not-so-funny problem of plastic pollution, with her sold out eco-comedy-musical, “One Minute to Midnight”.
Also directed by KL’s well-loved columnist and award winning theatre maker, Fa Abdul, “One Minute to Midnight” will be staged at the CEMPAKA North Hall Theatre in CEMPAKA National Schools, Cheras.
This lively youth-oriented musical comedy ties up Earth’s final minute as Mother Earth and her greedy, sneaky enemy “Grida Profiterole”, go toe-to-toe in a show-down over plastic pollution. Abbie and her friends are tasked with a quest to help Mother Earth, but can they effectively use the twist of time and space She has provided, to turn back the hands of time, for one more minute, and save the planet?
The musical is filled with catchy tunes and upbeat dance numbers, supported by an extraordinarily talented band of Penang and KL based musicians. Do also expect colourful fantastic costumes donned by a variety of Sea Creatures (including an Octopus, Manta Ray, Clownfish, Whale and Dolphin!). The show is spiced up with many laughs, while at the same time, occasionally moving the audience to tears.
