Retro Sunsplash, the Klang Valley’s Landmark Retro Themed Charity Party is back for its official EIGHTH edition since it began in 2011.

Boogie on down to Rock Bottom, Bangsar for ‘Retro Sunsplash 8 on DECEMBER 3 and get ready to twist and shout for a good cause as the volume is pumped up on all our favourite retro jives at Kuala Lumpur’s funkiest retro-theme charity dance party.

With the tagline ‘Charity, Fabulous Music, Good Times, Great Friends’, the main event will once again be held at Rock Bottom, Bangsar, KL. Promising to feature the most memorable and dance worthy retro tunes from the last century, the event will headline top DJs that have graced Kuala Lumpur’s dance scene over the last three decades.

The night’s DJ lineup includes Jakeman, DJ Rick, Andy Wizard, DJ J.D, Adrian G, DJ Ken, Big Daddy Reggie and DJ Georgie with emcees Double D and Roundhead. Plus the usual suspects who will be there to jump in to jam with the rest.

Retro Sunsplash 8 expects to draw approximately 500 partygoers to the event, with all proceeds being donated to the Persatuan Kebajikan Jagaan Sri Sai Selangor, Klang. This will be the third time the home will be receiving donations from Retro Sunsplash, and with good reason.

The charity outfit that takes care of more than 40 kids have once again been forced to relocate as the owner of their current home decided to sell off the premises.

Like its name, Retro Sunsplash is a party featuring dee jays of that era, playing music disco hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The objective of the event is to raise funds while having loads of good old fun, and make a difference for the under privileged.

Veteran Dee Jays Francis Koh (Francis K) and Jay Subramaniam (Jazzie Jay) decided to bring the avenue of quality music from the yesteryear – a scarcity nowadays – to patrons who craved it. As constant community do-gooders, Francis and Jay knew that charity was also a seriously lacking trait from the entertainment industry. With the marriage between quality retrospective entertainment and charity, Retro Sunsplash was born.

The first two Retro Sunsplash parties were held in March and June 2011 at CJs, 32 Square, PJ. The third, held as a street party/carnival in June 2012 was also at 32 Square, PJ. The fourth Retro Sunsplash was held at Dirty Nelly’s Life Centre, KL in Nov 2012, and the fifth in June 2013, at The Retro Club, Asian Heritage Row, KL. Late that year, a special Retro Sunsplash 5.5 was dedicated to the victims of the Haiyan typhoon tragedy. The sixth Retro Sunsplash was held in May 2015 at Zero 11 Sunrise Mont Kiara, KL, with the seventh moving to Rock Bottom Bangsar for the first time. Approximately RM125,000 has been raised so far and donated to four homes in the Klang Valley.

This coming event will be held at Rock Bottom, Bangsar, 3 & 5, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru, KL. Entrance fee for the event is RM50 at the door, inclusive of one drink.
