His passion for techno extends beyond the dance floor, also hosting his own monthly techno radio show Revolution Black on Frisky Radio. Running for its sixth year, the show is a testament to Kuma's dedication to the genre and his desire to share his love of techno with the world.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Kuma's signature sound is characterized by driving peak time techno with an abundance of energy and grooves, which he's set to continue pushing when he brings his monthly VOOP techno night once again to Sessions in Chinatown KL this Saturday for a night in a “Theatre of Techno”. This gathering promises to be an unforgettable journey through the depths of techno. With a steadily growing discography, he has released original music on top European techno labels such as Renesanz and Prospect Records. At this point, we take another opportunity to catch up with one of Asia's rising stars in the Theatre of Techno for a short interview.
You've been making waves globally with your unique sound and captivating performances. Can you tell us about the driving force behind your music and what sets you apart from other artists in the scene?
Thank you for having me. The driving force behind my music stems from my deep passion for techno and the desire to create an immersive experience for the audience. I strive to infuse my sets with energy and grooves that keep the crowd moving from start to finish. What sets me apart is my dedication to crafting a signature sound that blends driving peak-time techno with mesmerizing atmospheres. I aim to transport listeners on a sonic journey they won't soon forget.
You've had the opportunity to perform at renowned underground clubs like Sisyphos in Berlin and prestigious festivals such as ADE in Amsterdam. How have these experiences shaped your artistic growth and impacted your career?
Playing at iconic clubs and festivals has been incredibly influential in my artistic growth. It has allowed me to connect with diverse audiences and learn from some of the most talented artists in the industry. These experiences have taught me the importance of crafting a seamless and dynamic set, as well as the ability to adapt to different crowds and atmospheres. They've also provided invaluable exposure, helping to establish my name on an international level.
Alongside your performances, you host your own techno radio show, Revolution Black on Frisky Radio. Can you share with us the inspiration behind the show and how it contributes to your musical journey?
Revolution Black is my way of curating a space where I can showcase the latest techno sounds and share my musical vision with a wider audience. The show has become a platform for me to connect with listeners and fellow techno enthusiasts around the globe. It's been a remarkable journey running the show for six years, and it continues to inspire me to push the boundaries of my own creativity and stay on top of the evolving techno landscape.

It's truly humbling to have my music embraced by such respected labels. Their support has given me a tremendous boost of confidence and validation for my artistic endeavours. As for the future, I'm constantly honing my sound and experimenting with new ideas. I have some exciting projects in the pipeline that I can't wait to share with my fans.
