Ohrwurm Curates a double dose of Electronic Music for KL in May: Returning artist Jamaica Suk & Debutant San Proper Take Over Pisco KL over two dates!
Ohrwurm will be collaborating for the first time with the Voidrealm Collective to present Jamaica Suk, who will make her 2nd appearance in KL 3 May 2024!
Named by Boiler Room as one of Berlin’s best-kept secrets, Jamaica Suk has been at the forefront of breaking through the global techno scene. DJing quintessentially and producing for over a decade, she has found rising prominence for her unique brand of seamless mixing and driving, psychedelic-meets-gritty techno. Jamaica’s work has always been built on discipline, deep sonic exploration, and a passionate connection to the scene.
Hailing from San Francisco and based in Berlin, she quickly became a fixture of the German capital’s scene, as well as building a vast network of underground communities across Europe and internationally. She's centred her craft in the studio and behind the decks on the art of contrast - grimy industrial edge with meditative, consciousness-expanding dream worlds with no-holds-barred runaway energy. Jamaica’s voice always finds a timeless balance between the rawness of 90's techno traditions and boundary-pushing modern techniques. Her critically-acclaimed label Gradient has been a platform for her own finely-tuned productions including releasing a 17-track quadruple-vinyl release, “Uncertain Landscape.”

Ohrwurm presents the well-respected San Proper (NL), who will make his debut appearance in KL this 17 May 2024.
San Proper is a very strong character, and that always rubs off in his many musical endeavours. He is a famously unpredictable DJ who lays down party starting sets of house and disco, electro, afro and acid. He is also a charismatic live performer who places his own vocals and instrument playing skills at the centre of his show, whilst various bits of hardware and digital toys flesh out the grooves.
And lastly, he is also an esteemed producer of often feral house and techno sounds on quality labels like Rush Hour, Dekmantel, MUSAR and Perlon. The music he makes is always idiosyncratic from his earliest 12”s right up to his debut album on Rush Hour. It is personal stuff that contains a little piece of him—and “everything I have listened to since I was six”—in every record and always makes for standout stuff in any DJ set.
