Sebo K who plays at Le Noir KL this week(12 April) for Thursday Club night 1Hundred is a unique and influential figure within Berlin’s densely populated music community; both crowd-pleasing and credible, he is a bona fide tastemaker who distinguishes himself by exploring the connective threads between classics from Chicago and Detroit, and modern European tech house, minimal, and rolling percussive grooves.
Sebo K launched his DJ career in early-90s Berlin, as an integral member of Alec Empire’s Bass Terror, the city’s first UK-style drum’n’bass and breakbeat club nights. By the middle of the decade Sebo K had fallen under the spell of stateside artists like DJ Sneak, Boo Williams and Mood II Swing, and his growing love for Chicago and NYC House and Detroit techno began to reveal itself within his club appearances throughout the city. Sebo K has been a resident DJ for internationally renowned Berlin club Watergate since 2002.
Through his own SCENARIO nights that take place in clubs all over Europe and his relentless international touring schedule, a growing legion of fans both close to home and further afield has been captivated by his unique mix of the old and the new. Instant Classic tracks like "Rancho Relaxo" with Anja Schneider, "Diva", "Moved" feat. Prosumer and his Remixes for Nina Kraviz or Martyn established him as a worldwide renowned producer.
He has recently released his music on Labels such as Phil Weeks' Robsoul Recordings, Tsuba and his own vinyl only label Scenario Music which he started in 2015. By involving artists like Jus-Ed and Ian Pooley as well as Diego Krause and Djebali on his label, he continues following his path of combining the Old school with the New school.
Sebo K drops his debut LP - a seven track mini-album - entitled ‘Patience’ on Rekids out now. Reflecting on 15 years as a producer, Sebo K has an admirable discography but recent years have been particularly exciting. The German producer’s continual rise includes recent releases on Bass Culture, Robsoul Recordings and Tsuba, whilst his vinyl-only label Scenario has been putting out wax featuring Ian Pooley, DJ Honesty, Jus Ed, Dan Curtin, DJ Deep and Diego Krause. Having cemented a reputation for consistently quality house music, Sebo K’s debut on Rekids exhibits a refreshing sound from the established artist.
Support comes from Alam (Ohrwurm) this night.
