In collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes world-renowned violinist Akiko Suwanai to the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas for one night only this 13 February 2019.
The youngest ever winner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition (in 1990) brings her elegance and bravura to the magnificent Brahms violin concerto, followed by Sarasate’s bold Zigeunerwisen. Mozart’s delightful overture and Haydn’s noble “London” Symphony gilds the programme conducted by Alexander Briger.
Alexander Briger is one of Australia’s preeminent conductors, having worked with Maestros Zubin Mehta, Pierre Boulez and Sir Charles Mackerras. Awarded the Order of Australia for services to music as a leading conductor in 2016, he is considered a specialist in the works of Janáček, Mozart and contemporary music.
