Bitrates ft Robin and Stephen Day and more 7 December 2018 Jiro KL

Bitrates Asia and Jiro KL are back once again for one last series in 2018 featuring some of the best DJs from South East Asia. Since its inception 5 years ago, Bitrates has made its mark in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur’s underground electronic music scene, and from 2018, Indonesia by collaborating with Jakarta based collective, House Cartel.

Bitrates is a collaborative platform for DJs with the aim to market local talents abroad, viewed by many as one of South-East Asia’s most influential DJ collectives with an ability to constantly evolve to adapt to the ever changing clubbing landscape.

This 7 December 2018 at Jiro KL is the third event of the Bitrates series this year, after successful nights in Jakarta and Singapore. The final series in KL will feature Robin (Bitrates Asia /House Cartel / Indonesia), Stephen Day (The Foundation / CE LA VI / Singapore) and Arzuk (Bullfinch / Soul De Anima / Malaysia) with Alan Tand and Adam Khan also featuring for the night in the Club.

 

Robin Rahardian (House Cartel) was born with so much passion and talent in music deep down. He has a history as a drummer with his band who liked to explore many kinds of music from jazz to psychedelic rock. Electronic music was always an interest since young, inspired by known underground house scene local and international from Garth, Jeno and some talented local heroes. Ever since he heard a set of Garth and Jeno, he started to try mixing and getting to know turntables even further than before. After that, he began collecting records and started spinning in 2004 and wants to explore deeper. Music from house, deep house, wicked, nu disco, and psychedelic rock till jazz has been played from underground places to big clubs and lounges in Jakarta, Bandung and others.

 

British born Stephen Day has been DJing for close to 18 years, holding residencies at clubs such as Gatecrasher (Leeds) and ‘The Empire’ (Middlesbrough); as well as many clubs / festivals all over Asia including Ministry of Sound, Stereolab, SupperClub, Kudeta, Avalon, Kilo, Kyo, W Hotel, ULTRA Music Festival, Neon Lights Festival, Gatecrasher (Indonesia), Potato Head (Jakarta, SG), Zoukout and more. He has worked alongside reputable DJs such as Frankie Knuckles, Roger Sanchez, Pete Tong, Boy George, David Morales, Dennis Ferrer, Norman Doray, Quintino, Danny Rampling, Supernova, Bottin, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Faze Action —just to name a few. As a producer, he has released tracks on labels all around the world, namely ‘Large Records’ (Chicago) and ‘Seven Music’ (Ireland) Chronovision (Ibiza); Today, Stephen continues to spread his love of underground music all over the world.

 

KL’s Arzuk has been a showcase artist in Malaysia for the several years. Having started his journey since 2008, his taste and passion in deep, melodic and addictive syncopated rhythms has developed strength in his versatility in cross genre producing based on his previous influences. Arzuk has released his music for several acclaimed and international labels such as Soul De Anima, Progressive House Worldwide, Lapsus Music, Natura Viva,Bullfinch and Majestic Family Records. Others would also include Mr.Moutarde Records, Progressive House Worldwide, Dear Deer Records and Electronic Tree. His versatility allows him to adapt to various ranges of genre and taste based also on locality.

Over in the Garden, Apak & Friends will take on Garden Sessions. Joining Apak will be Indonesia House Cartel with Nandi and Yorri, Ju-C and David Carollo (Italy).
