Jazz Meets Contemporary Classical Music in a Neo Gen music concert of original compositions at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas this 19 February 2025.
Black Swan Rises is a unique concept-based musical performance that transcends the boundaries of traditional music concerts. Black Swan Rises is a story and music about humanity. It is a Neo Gen music concert based on the original compositions and arrangements by composer, producer, bassist, author, impresario and accountant, Rodin JS Kumar. The concert will be led and conducted by Prof. Hanafie Imam and performed by 21 musicians. And unlike the typical focus on a few popular songs, this performance is a fusion of diverse musical concepts based on a specific theme - Black Swan Rises and promises an unparalleled experience where 'Jazz Meets Contemporary Classical Music.'
Black Swan Rises is not just a performance. It’s an innovative art form that boldly unites the worlds of jazz and modern classical music through the medium of improvised music- Jazz. It’s an experimentation and exploration that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
Performing for the night: Prof. Hanfie Imam (Principal Conductor), Rodin JS Kumar (electric bass), James Ryan (tenor saxophone, flute), Damon Brown (trumpet), VJ Thison (drums), Syabe (keyboards), Shaq, (keyboards), Maria Angela (vocals), Dato’ Aljafri Majid (vocals) and a string ensemble led by Jae Sern Lim (violin).
Rodin JS Kumar is a humanist and a pragmatist. He is an Author, Composer, Music Producer, Publisher, Impresario and Bassist. Professionally qualified in accountancy, audit and finance, he is deeply passionate about the arts and considers them his second true calling in life, valuing the power of creativity and self-expression above all else. Though a non-idealist, Rodin believes in exploring one’s passions and talents and encourages others to do the same.
