Imagine your brain is the air traffic control tower in a busy airport- it is constantly organising, filtering distractions, prioritising tasks, setting and achieving goals and controlling impulses. This skill is known as executive functioning. Challenges with executive functioning can be experienced by all to different degrees, but are often more pronounced in the neurodiverse individuals. Awareness to this and finding the right strategies can greatly assist one in acting in a goal-directed manner day-to-day and embrace an inclusive community.
