Inyodo - Kyo KL’s Second Anniversary Weekend 18-20 January 2019

Inyodo - Kyo KL’s Second Anniversary Weekend 18-20 January 2019

It’s Kyo KL’s Second Anniversary and they’ve got MORE for you this weekend 18-20 Janauary 2019.

INYODO: The Way of Yin and Yang

A story of duality, a tale of two sisters. Are you brave enough to explore the darkness to find the light? Deep in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Kyo and Ren have found the perfect escape - a space that allows them to express and indulge in their different personalities. Demure and elegant, Ren embodies the timeless Samurai spirit; the noble sibling to her sister Kyo. As the loyalist’s rebellious counterpart, Kyo pursues a hedonistic lifestyle more akin to the Yakuza. Experience old in the new as the sanctuary is split into two. Grasp the essence of traditional Japan at Ren before diving into its more modern underworld down at Kyo. Immerse yourself in Japanese body art and culture as we celebrate our second anniversary. Choose to play it safe with Ren, or go rogue, joining Kyo as she takes a walk on the wild side.

Which means, double the fun with not one, but two headliners this Saturday 19 January 2019. They've got returning hip-hop act and Red Bull 3style Champion, Dj Hedspin, in the main room, and One Records Berlin-based co-founder, Subb-an in REN. Talk about a celebration! #letskyo

In Kyo the main room: The many places you may have heard DJ Hedspin’s sound include: his work in Vancouver’s club scene; his edits and remixes spun by peers around the globe; his mix shows featured on Toronto's Flow 93.5, LA's Power 106 and Wild 94.9 in San Francisco; or you may have downloaded “Mobbin ” his single with Grand theft on Mad Decent that made the iTunes dance chart Top 10.  And then there's the matter of his spectacular winning set at the 2011 Red Bull Thre3style World Championship. During a live showcase - whether in the US, Europe, Asia and South America. Hedspin flexes musicality, technicality and aggressive delivery as he keeps the crowd moving in a way that only a world champion can. More than a DJ, Hedspin is a true performer, and the chance to catch him is an occasion. With Biggie, Aku Ash and Afaro for the night as well.

IN REN Lounge: The Sweatbox ft. Subb-An (Berlin)

Kyo KL is turning two this week, so The Sweatbox has proudly invited a talented artist to grace their decks this Saturday at REN Lounge: Subb-an (One Records, Berlin).

One Records Berlin based co-founder, Subb-an, continues a path along one of diligence, refinement, and exploration. Drawing upon Berlin’s vitality and spontaneity, it’s this intuitive, free-flowing vibe that has also found its way into, not only his music but also the curation of One Records, which continues to flourish as another major focus for the artist.
Releasing on Cabinet Records and Pleasure Zone. Having a strong history and passion for collecting vinyl from a young age as well as attending Fabric every weekend, it is by no surprise Subb-an cites Craig Richards and Ricardo Villalobos, amongst his greatest influences.
Sweatbox residents Obadius, Otherkind and Meliha in for the night.

Meanwhile, the day before on Friday 18 January 2019 at REN and Kyo.

Ren:  Fruit Machine featuring Emo Night with Pop-Punk & Alternative Rock From The Early 2000s. They’re turning it up a notch with these rockstars An Honest Mistake for the first Emo Night of the year. Get ready to sing your out, and scream your lungs out,

as they take you on an epic journey into old emo realms. From Fall Out Boy and blink-182 to Alesana and The Maine, they're exploring the whole musical sphere with Aida Azrin, Darren Teh and Damnyoudan.

Kyo: Ash & friends with Aku Ash and Musher tonight. Fridays are for friends, specifically Ash & Friends. Grab yours tonight and head to the floor as they take it back to the old school, not forgetting the latest bangers.

And on Sunday in the Kyo main room, escape the Monday blues at kyo Sundays as DJ Momma with Shaggz and MC Noixe crank up the weekend vibe. Lose yourself to the banging urban beats at Ren and dance your way into the new week. The party doesn't end until the week does, making this the ultimate form of escapism. Hip hop and trap.
