Jason Cheah Aka J-Sun releases part 3 of his KL 20 year mix series

Welcome to The House of J-Sun. These are my pastiches of the KL Underground Dance Music Scene seen and heard from my eyes and hearts as I traversed the scene over the years.

Almost a random one here moving from week 2's 2007-2008 to this week with 2011 in mind. For I had a guest slot at a club bar on the fringe outer circle of the Klang Valley at Boiler Bar, Desa Seri Hartamas, KL.

So, what was happening around town in the Klang Valley during a time when I also took a half year break from Malaysia, hopping over to the UK and the Netherlands mid-way through 2010 to early 2011.

While Zouk and Ministry of Sound - Euphoria continue to hold the flag high in terms of international club branding, the spread of the Klang Valley seemed to play host to an increasing number of heady night spots to check out, during this year or thereabouts, especially down the Asian Heritage Row stretch where many nightspots could by then boast of extended hours. Not to mention of course, the fringe outer circle that included areas like Seri Hartamas and Mont Kiara.

On the international DJ front, there was a marked increase in visits and appearances in KL, reversing a downward trend that had been seen during the second half of the “noughties”.

Outdoor festival-style events made its presence felt again in and around KL, offering a taste of the commercial and underground sounds with big international deejays and rising newcomers all sharing the stage with our local contingent, just like when the big one dayers around the Klang Valley during the turn of the millennium

In addition, also featuring on KL's House of Chemistry (https://www.mixcloud.com/KLchemistry/). HOC was a club night started by DJ Low of BIonic DJ Academy in the late 2000s that I played for a few times over the years.
