Taking you back to around early mid 2016 with this two plus hour taste of the Suntech Sunday nights I played at one of KL's underground dance music institutions of the last decade - QUINTE.
Quinte – the underground institution on the Asian Heritage Row in Kuala Lumpur for a hefty part of the decade from 2010 onwards, during which it served as THE go-to club for some of the most underground house and techno vibes you could find in the city.
Helmed at the time by Malaysian Djs Alex Martin and DJ Kuma, Quinte featured pretty much a roll call of Malaysian underground Djs from DJ Mie, Victor G, Gabriel, Miss Nora, JonnyVicious, Kut Masta K, Najee (RIP), Mr Q, Groovedoctor, Dilee D and many, many more. My time at Quinte came in 2016 with Suntech Sunday nights with Alex Martin at Trilogy and Najee (RIP) at Skyline, and Bubble Brunch Sundays at Trilogy.
Internationals who have graced the decks of Quinte over the years include Smokin Jo, Graham Gold, Randy Seidman, Nathan Viva, Marco Loco, Roni Kush, Rob Gritton, Rory Gallagher, Jay Lumen, Marco Bailey, Naq, Guy Fidelity, Aaron Fevah, Oliver Osborne, JP Lantieri and more.
Quinte's underground reputation came during a decade that stood tall and saw something of a growth in the clubbing scene in the Klang Valley, with shifting clubs, mushrooming venues and a massive rise in outdoor festival type events, particularly with the entry of the Future Music Festival Asia in 2012, and the rise of the more mainstream Big Room EDM and revival of trance.
