Jungle City Beats sees stellar regional DJs across Asia honing their decks. For this edition, they welcome back the visionary singer-songwriter, producer, musician, performer that is Hayze for the second time this year.
Malaysia's most successful electronic dance music export has been a consistent presence in the dance music underground this millennium. He was also a major presence in the Malaysian pop, soul, R&B scene for the decade before that.
Hayze’s résumé reads like a who’s who of house music royalty, recording collaborations with the likes of Noir, Full Intention, Shapeshifters, Dave Penn, Kings of Tomorrow, Sandy Rivera, Nic Fanciulli, MJ Cole, Skylark, Audiowhores, Danism and Solomun.
In the early 2000s, his Changes track with Kings of Tomorrow topped the UK dance charts, while Dreams (also with Kings of Tomorrow) remains one of the great dance anthems of all time. His Ibiza anthem Freak with Sandy Rivera reached #6 on the Dutch singles charts in 2007 while his hit Around garnered a highly-prized spot in the Top 50 Dance anthems of all time according to MixMag in 2013. More recent anthems include Closer, Angel, Believer and Brighter Days.
