International Women's Day Food & Wine Pairing: Thailand meets America in Penang on 15 and 16 March 2023.
Internationally successful Sommelier Alison Christ and marketing guru and business partner Lubby Young from Cheong Somm Wine Bar in Kuala Lumpur team up with Thai Chef Pennapra Yathai from Pennapara Private Dining in Penang for a special two night pop up at the beautiful new home of Haute at 350 by Cork & Cleaver on Chulia Street in Georgetown this 15-16 March 2023.
Pennapra Private Dining aims to elevate Thai cuisine by fusing traditional Thai recipes with modern cooking techniques and presentation. The goal is to create a unique dining experience for diners and surprise their palates with new and exciting flavors.
Seats are limited to 10 people each night. Guests arriving from Kuala Lumpur or other areas outside of Penang can enjoy discounted rates at the boutique Tien Hotel directly next door to the venue.
Christ and Yathai partner together to create a one of a kind menu that brings their two motherlands together. Featuring American classics like fish and chips, tacos, and seafood bisque using fresh Thai ingredients. Christ pairs the wines for each dish, focusing on quality wineries that promote sustainability for the planet.
Pennapra Yathai hails from Kamphaeng Phet in Northern Thailand. Pennapra is fusing authentic Thai recipes with modern cooking techniques in order to create new and exciting dishes.
Alison Christ is a born and bred New York native with a globe spanning career as a sommelier. Alison has left her mark from Italy to Hong Kong and now to Malaysia. Lubby Young is a partner/owner of Cheong Somm Wine Bar and is their official party starter and wine lover.
