klpac is abuzz to celebrate its 19th birthday this month of May with concerts, cutting-edge plays, traditional arts and more.
RWD / FWD (9 – 12 May 2024) – Pentas 2
RWD / FWD, which opens on klpac's birthday i.e. 9 May 2024, brings you a wave of nostalgia with two programmes like two sides of a mixtape. Ian Chow’s RWD / FWD brings you a wave of nostalgia with two different programmes back to back.
Side A features radio hits from the 80s by some of the most exciting artists of the time including “Princess of Pop” Kylie Minogue, “the Voice” Whitney Houston, Belinda Carlisle, Sinead O’Connor, Prince, Roxette and more. Fast forward a decade later, Side B serves up music by iconic bands like Third Eye Blind, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Better Than Ezra, 4 Non Blondes, Vertical Horizon as well as some solo artists like Tori Amos and Lisa Loeb. Audiences can design their experience by picking a side or both with the concert pass. They can choose between standing and seated. Lastly, they'll have the power to determine the song order. Nothing is conventional about RWD / FWD including its unique triangle-shaped stage design mimicking a giant play button.
Directed by Ian Chow and co-directed by Cheryl Ong as part of a mentor-mentee programme under klpac's Connect initiative supported by Yayasan Sime Darby. RWD / FWD brings back Fuad of Kyoto Protocol, Priscillia Xavier, Kirsten Long and Cynthia Gan. They welcome on board Fyn, who is set to inject a fresh energy that is sure to thrill the crowd. After eight years, Chow makes a triumphant comeback as a featured vocalist, marking his 20th anniversary since his debut. Backing the vocalists up will be a stellar four-piece band led by Music Director and keyboardist Jacqueline Teng with guitarist Jeremy James Kong, drummer Alex Lee, bassist Timothy Voo, and cellist Eugene Chong.
Supported by TAS Foundation and licensed by MACP, RWD / FWD single tickets are priced from RM60 to RM100 while bundle passes are priced from RM100 to RM200. Concession for students, seniors above 60 years of age, disabled persons and educators are priced at RM50 (single tickets only). Each ticket holder will be given a complimentary finger light and tickets can be purchased online via www.cloudjoi.com.
