JULY 23-24: Look At Me with Shantini Venugopal

Shanthini Venugopal is a one of Malaysia's best known actresses and after 15 years is bringing her new cabaret show 'Look At Me!' to the Crackhouse. Shanthini Venugopal is an actress, comedienne and storyteller and she brings these unique gifts to her cabaret show 'Look At Me!' She has travelled the world as a storyteller and an actor. She acted in the Hollywood movie “Anna and The King” with Jodie Foster and Chow Yun-Fat.

 



She runs a children’s theatre company, The Jumping JellyBeans and has performed at international children’s festivals in Iran, India, Germany and Singapore. She conducts theatre training classes for children of varying abilities in Malaysia and overseas. She is a pioneer member of The Instant Café Theatre Company, and has performed in Hong Kong and Malaysia. This diva has done it all!

With humour, wit and warmth she takes us by the hand and leads us on a musical journey through her life inviting us to share the happiness, the heartbreak and the joy of being alive. 'Look At Me!' is her first solo cabaret engagement in 15 years and has been rapturously received.

Until Aug 4: The Working Dead at KLPac

After a successful workshop production last year, The Working Dead returns with the full musical this year. 'Edwin is a hardworking employee who works long and hard to support his wife Sarah. When he dies unexpectedly on the job, his boss Chan hires a bomoh to bring him back as a corporate zombie. It's up to Sarah and Edwin's colleagues to save him!' A merciless night of stand-up comedy with a sadistic twist. Watch up to 20 acts attempt 5 minutes of funny. If they survive the whole five minutes, they stand a chance to win up to RM500. JULY 25: The Eat Crowd

If there’s one thing every Malaysian has an opinion on, it’s FOOD. And whose food opinions, stories, anecdotes, and thoughts would be more fun to hear than the ones from Malaysia’s best stand-up comedians? In this one night special, watch local acts rave about their favourite foods, rant about restaurants, and regale you with haute cuisine hilarity all night long. With Brian Tan, Kavin Jay, Abdul Raqib Karim, Mad Sabah, hosted by Gajen Nad.

JULY 26-27:  Crackhouse presents  Sam See (SG)

Sam See coming back to shock and burst the Crackhouse with laughter once again, before he heads off to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Sam See is part of Asia's new wave of stand-up comedians, entertaining audiences from around the globe for over half a decade with his unique blend of jokes, stories and improvized humour. Based in Singapore, he has worked in clubs and theatres with comedians like Dara Ó Briain (UK), Bert Kreischer (US), Gina Yashere (US/UK), Peter Berner (AUS) & Kevin Bridges (SCO). He has also headlined shows internationally, in cities like Melbourne, Malaysia, Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Oman and the Philippines.

 



Sam has appeared on MTV, iFlix,Channel 5 (Singapore’s nation-wide English broadcaster), and Comedy Central Asia, and Comedy Central appearing on The Jim Jeffries Show. He has also been selected for numerous comedy festivals, including the Singapore Comedy Fringe Festival, the Crackhouse Comedy Carnival and the Magner's International Comedy Festival.

Sam was also on Singapore's first ever comedy panel show, OK Chope!, which was filmed and telecast live weekly. He was one of the permanent panellist who spent each episode joking about news and current events happening both locally and internationally, along with mainstays to the Singapore entertainment scene Vernetta Lopez and Najip Ali.

JULY 26-27:  Andrew Netto at TJF

Andrew Netto is one of the hottest comedians in the Malaysian circuit achieving considerable success in the local and international comedy scenes. He is described as a comic with more spin than a high speed turbine, with his twists and insights in the daily workings of the average Joe. The Malaysian is a regular feature in The Comedy Club KL shows and has performed at or emceed dozens of the highly popular comedy show.
