Stage 1: 4 – 13 August 2023. In Perfect Harmony Too. A podcaster. A kopitiam. “Hello, Malaysia!” Through the broadcasting activities of a hobbyist podcaster on his “How Much Do You Know About Malaysia?” programme, Dama returns with a show that pays musical tribute to the popular music and songs from all races that have tugged on our heart strings since Merdeka. The Edge and Dama Asia are proud to present a new musical theatre concert "IN PERFECT HARMONY TOO", hot on the heels of the previous success of "IN PERFECT HARMONY" in 2011. This continuing Malaysian musical journey beckons you and your family to a live performance where a symphony of timeless tunes and nostalgia meets our talented local ensemble of performers. The repertoire of 26 best-loved tunes, spanning over 6 decades, that were once over-requested on our Malaysian radio schedules, over-played in discotheques and music lounges, and over-spent on jukeboxes, is sure to ignite joyful memories long dormant and etched in your collective consciousness.
Nero Event Space: 5 to 6 August 2023. MALAM TAKDIR. An Opera in Bahasa Malaysia. s a new opera by Johan Othman, that is inspired by the Mahabharata. It was first presented as a play in Penang in 2019, directed by Chee Sek Thim, and featured Hilyati Ramli and Noor Rizuwan Zolkepli as actors.
The story revolves around an imagined conversation between a king who was born blind, and his advisor, on the eve of a predestined war that would see all his 100 sons killed in battle. In this conversation, the advisor tries to convince the king to stop the war. Fully aware of the tragic fate that awaits his sons, the blind king nonetheless allows the war to proceed, choosing instead to take a gamble with destiny, with the hope that his 100 sons will triumph and inherit the throne. What unfolds is an argument that brings to the fore, a story of hope and betrayal, fate and human volition. The music for the opera, also by Johan Othman, is composed with the participation of the performers and employs rhythmic clapping and sound making around arias written for a soprano voice, which will be sung by Tan Jin Yin. The opera will be presented “a capella”.

Pentas 2: 21 July to 6 August 2023: The Producers - A Musical Comedy by Mel Brooks. A scheming producer and his mousy accountant aim to produce the biggest flop on Broadway in Mel Brooks’ laugh-out-loud spectacle. Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks’ classic comedy film. Now as a big Broadway musical, The Producers once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humour. It is a truly “boffo” hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards and wowing capacity crowds night after night.
This KLPac Production is brought to you PAN Productions featuring an ALL Malaysian cast. PAN Productions is recognised as a premier production powerhouse in Malaysia as it carried on winning multiple awards yearly for their stagings. This reflects our commitment to not just staging award winning shows in Malaysia, but also boosting the Malaysian performing arts industry through the employment and development of the best Malaysian talents, as well as making our city and country more culturally vibrant.
