Kyo KL & Collective Minds presents The Social Club Aug/Sep 2019

Kyo KL & Collective Minds create new night The Social Club this August and September.  The new concept, will high light the things that really matter.

Everyone is welcome in this judgement-free zone, good vibes will be in abundance, song requests will not be entertained, and predatory behaviour will not be tolerated.

Over three dates this month and next, they are bringing in international acts Nosaj Thing, Yeti Out, Hermitude, Breakbot and Irfane, supported by local acts/DJs Naufal. Afaro, Roshan, Axel Groove and Public School.

August 15 – Nosaj Thing (US), supported by Yeti Out (HK) and Naufal

What do Kendrick Lamar and Chance The Rapper have in common? They’ve both been blessed by the stellar production work of the Los Angeles artist that we know as Nosaj Thing. Having been inspired by the various sounds since he was a kid listening to the radio on the school bus, Nosaj Thing has dabbled across many genres - drum’n’bass, electronica, experimental, house, and hip hop.

YETI OUT was founded by twin brothers Arthur and Thomas Bray and Erisen Ali as a blog-turned-party series in East London. In a time when social media has made us less social, Yeti Out highlights the importance of dance parties and offline events as a place where creativity is born. With London's club culture as the crew's schooling, the trio moved home to Asia to challenge the status quo put in place by financial capitals: lack of space and support for the arts & underground music.

AUGUST 29 – Hermitude, supported by Afaro & Roshan

Since the early 2000s, Elgusto and Luke Dubs have been exploring the wide sonic territory formed by their influences, both individually and as a group. Their chemistry in the studio is undeniable and backed by a friendship that has seen the duo experience some incredible moments on stage and behind the scenes. Hermitude has remained one of Australia’s most endearing and popular acts.

As a natural born crowd reader, Afaro thrives on filling the room with dancing bodies. Spinning hip hop and R&B, Afaro's beats have been well received at some of the city's top party spots. Afaro has shared the stage with prominent local artists such as Sonaone, DJ Biggie and Arabyrd to name a few.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Roshan is a DJ that plays an eclectic set of sounds that keeps his crowd dancing throughout his sets.

SEPTEMBER 12 – Breakbot and Irfane, supported by Axel Groove and Public School

After the Baby, I’m Yours EP and a few other similar projects, Breakbot released his debut album in 2012 on Ed Banger. By Your Side, a sun-filled soundtrack with cheeky writing, where the bass line and the guitar answered each other in a rhythmic lovefest.

Together, Breakbot and Irfane have presented By Your Side in all the big cities of the world on a tour that has lasted almost two years. This long meandering finally gave the two friends the idea to create a duo.

A self- professed late bloomer, Axel Groove found his inspiration following 7 years in the wilderness, also known as the concrete jungles of Australia. The underground music scene in KL reignited his long lost passion to educate the masses with the sexy sounds that is house music.
