W Kuala Lumpur's WET Deck welcomes Mike Risk this coming Friday 11 January, the Amsterdam nightlife authority extraordinaire who introduced the lowlands to many legends of house music.
An established, skilled and passionate deejay, originally from Amsterdam, now based in London. Kenny Dope, Kerri Chandler and Terry Hunter are all fans of Mike. He is resident deejay for Groove Odyssey at Ministry of Sound in London and for their international events in Ibiza and Amsterdam. He also plays host to the following monthly residencies; W Amsterdam, W London, Sketch and is a regular guest at the popular Happy Feelings events in Amsterdam.
In 2017 Mike was the only international deejay invited to "The Chosen Few Picnic Festival" in Chicago alongside Mike Dunn, Ron Trent, DJ Spinna and Terry Hunter. One of his highlights of last year, playing in front of 30,000 Chicago house heads.
Mike has played alongside an impressive list of international top deejays such as Masters at Work, Kenny Dope, Louie Vega, Kenny Dixon Jr, Kerri Chandler, Mike Dunn, Mood II Swing, Cajmere, Dennis Ferrer, Lil Louis, Mike Pickering, Neil Pierce and Bobby & Steve to name a few. Travelling all over the world, from Amsterdam and London to New York, Miami, Chicago, LA, Bali, Mauritius, Malaysia (yes, all the way back in 2004), Singapore, Ibiza, Spain and Italy.
As a DJ’s DJ he is living proof that you don’t have to be a producer to DJ and play all over the world. Through talent and dedication, mastery and staying true to what he stands for, he has been able to share his zest for blending and mixing music into a story telling groove that grabs people and makes them escape the day to day. His deep, uplifting and energetic DJ expertise are respected by the world’s very best and are a seamless mix of upfront New York and Chicago house, Detroit techno, deep house, disco and whatever feels right. Every set is a journey digging through 25 years of music.
Having said all that, he’s recently released his debut solo release “Welcome To My House” out via Kenny Dope and his label Dopewax Records.
