Lazy Sunday Special presents Ata (Robert Johnson, DE) at Pisco Bar KL 25 MARCH 2018. Pisco Bar KL is extremely psyched to be hosting one of Europes leading men in music curation/ the owner of one of Germany's most famed establishments, the elusive sound connoisseur Robert Johnson's maker Ata.
Here’s a little bit about the man. Ata is a DJ and founder of the labels Playhouse, Klang, Ongaku. He also runs the 250-capacity Robert Johnson club in Offenbach, Frankfurt-Am-Main, one of the world’s premier techno clubs.
Ata started DJing in the late eighties. In 1992 he founded the record shop Delirium with Heiko Schäfer, aka Heiko M/S/O, where he established the labels Ongaku Musik, Klang Elektronik and Playhouse in 1993. Together with Heiko Schäfer and Jörg Henze, he DJed variously as Delirium Posse, Heiko & Ata, Ata & Jörg and Heiko & Jörg.
Besides DJing, Ata founded the first 'real' club night in Frankfurt for modern house and deep house, the Wild Pitch Club at the Nachtleben-Club. After years of parties he closed the concept and opened the Robert Johnson in 1999 with Sebastian Kahrs. The interior lived up to the unusual name: white walls, astounding neon lights, and a majestic sound system. All this combined with an immaculate sense of style regarding the musical programme and a will to progress made this club one of the most important places for electronic music in the whole of Europe.
The club still holds this position today, especially when Ata plays one of his marathon sets. When not spinning records, he spends much of his time designing T-shirts or cooking for half the city in his 'Club Michel'.
