Le Noir KL for this weekend on the Roof with Tales of the Terrace featuring Radio Rental and DJ Kuma, then Saturday sees Sing It Black with Eugene and Bryan Burger.
Tales of the Terrace Fridays on the roof 23 November 2018 with Radio Rental and DJ Kuma
With a decade producing and 15 years DJing in the circuit under his belt, London born Radio Rental is a man that has carefully fine-tuned his skills to a place now where he is fully confident in whatever aspect of the industry he turns to. After starting out in the outskirts of East London as a young 11-year-old boy, he scrimped and saved for whatever he could find in the record shops that took his fancy, in particular the jungle and hardcore genre.
This enthusiasm to learn and study electronic music as a whole is something that has stayed with him for the last 20 years, and is a reason why his knowledge for various dance music styles is unfathomable to many, from garage to house, jungle rhythms, techno bombs and acid house, this artist likes to explore it all.
2017 saw him setup his first professional recording studio Bad Hatter Studios in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Under his previous alias Type 1, he had highly respected residencies at such landmark London clubs as The End, The Cross, The Fridge, Fire & The Mass. He’s also guested at other major London clubs including Brixton Academy, Ministry Of Sound, Cable, SE One, The Egg, Pacha, 54, and Coronet. He has also toured Ibiza numerous times and had very well received gigs at superclubs Eden & Es Paradis, as well as warm up shows at Café Del Mar & Mambo’s.
His own sound is a mixture of house and techno with bold and brassy grooves paired with acid leads and wonky basslines, keeping things tightly underground.
He’s currently signed to such impressive labels as Mr.C’s imprint Superfreq with a current remix of his single ‘Show Me’ released under his belt and a forthcoming track on the various artist on Freqtrax imprint, this will then be followed by a full 3 track EP out early in January 2019, he is also signed too labels such as Zulu Records, Black Lizard and Pukka Up.
Kuma is one of the few established DJs from Malaysia who plays across Asia and Europe. With his signature underground techno and techno based sounds, he's earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across Asia, including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand), Womb (Tokyo), and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Haadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand), Epizode (Vietnam), regular Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan) appearances to add to appearances in Singapore, Macao, Yangon, Berlin, Paris, Corsica, Amsterdam, Ibiza and many more.
Also dabbling into techno productions, his two releases in the last year, Kamagra and the Acid Flux EP created waves, and with new regular radio show appearances on Frisky Radio and Ibiza Radio 1, plus a couple of EPs finalised, including his new release Saigon Express, just released on Baroque records imprint Dlimited records, there’s much more to come in the very near future.
Sing It Black Saturdays with Eugene and Bryan Burger 24 November 2018 with house, tech house, techno and progressive.
As one of Malaysia’s pioneers of the electronic dance music scene, Eugene was one of those instrumental in making KL something of a clubbing capital with the constant organising of numerous pioneering warehouse and outdoor parties, including the creation and conceptualization of the legendary Movement KL and Carbon Club at the beginning of this millennium.
As a DJ, his mixing style is smooth and seamless, often riding the line between funky electro and tech-house and quality deep house, and, back in the day, drum’n’bass as well.
Fast forward to today, Eugene is now a fashion designer/DJ who is coming back with a new sound that focuses on deep melodic house or dirty tech-house to techno depending on the venue.
Bryan Burger is no stranger to the Malaysian club scene. Burger; as he is nicknamed by many can be labelled easily as one of the most influential DJs in Malaysia, as his legacy has pulsated through clubs for more than a decade and a half and counting.
Burger’s eclectic style cannot be pin pointed into a specific genre as he has built a personality that solely belongs to him only. Deep grooves that trembles within one’s heartbeat, infused with a funky electro baseline, and a prominent hint of a tribal touch which soars through the soul. Burger creates beats that pulsates through and reaches into a heightened frenzy of rapture.
He has also warmed up for the finest International DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren, and Kevin Saunderson & Goldie, to name a few. He has also played back to back with pioneers of his era DJ Gabriel and Ben Katana. And he runs Excessive Records Pro DJ shop and Royale DJ Academy. His contribution to the Malaysian club scene has phased many as every event he has participated in intrigues the crowd into the hypnotic state of his phenomenal beats.
