Le Noir Roof weekender 4-5 January 2019

Le Noir KL's first weekend of 2019 on the roof has a Daydream focus as the Daydream Sunday Pool Party residents feature for a couple of nights of house and tech vibes.

Tales of the Terrace Fridays on the roof 30 November 2018 with DJ Kuma and J-Sun

Kuma is one of the few established DJs from Malaysia who plays across Asia and Europe. With his signature underground techno and techno based sounds, he's earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across Asia, including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand), Womb (Tokyo), and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Haadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand), Epizode (Vietnam), regular Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan) appearances to add to appearances in Singapore, Macao, Yangon, Berlin, Paris, Corsica, Amsterdam, Ibiza and many more.

Also dabbling into techno productions, his two releases in the last year, Kamagra and the Acid Flux EP created waves, and with new regular radio show appearances on Frisky Radio and Ibiza Radio 1, plus a couple of EPs finalised, including his new release Saigon Express, just released on Baroque records imprint Dlimited records, there’s much more to come in the very near future.

As amateur/freelance musician, entertainment journalist and DJ, J-Sun has been on the fringes and in the thick of the scene for 30 years, traversing the music genres as well as the local circuit. As DJ J-Sun, he's scoured the KL scene for well over the past decade and a half.  In the clubbing arena, J-Sun can trace his experiences back to partying during the glory days of the 1980s, having spent eight years studying in England from 1978 to 1986 where he began dabbling in the DJing arts playing pop and disco parties in Birmingham. Since the beginning of this millennium J-Sun has continued to refine his reputation as a provider of jazzy, groovy, deep, soulful, funky and Latin house grooves, with a dash of tech and progressive house beats, Currently, he can be found sharing the music with the Daydream Pool Parties and various appearances in KL.

Sing It Black with Jeff Jefferson and Alex Martin on the roof at 11pm with House Music on 5 January 201 (House Music)

It could be said that Jeff Jefferson was born for great things the son of no lesser then a Malaysian princess! However, his DJ career began in less illustrious roots, with him entertaining the troops in Germany during his time in the forces in the early nineties.

These early gigs got Jeff acclaim and lead to bookings throughout Europe during the early stages of the house music scene.

Jeff quickly established himself as a key DJ on the house scene playing legendary clubs such as SLAG, Wobble and most notably Miss Moneypennys. It was this heavyweight of international glamorous clubbing that really took notice of Jeff Jefferson’s talent and made him a fixture on all their key events around Europe.

Jeff played all the major events for Miss Moneypenny’s in Europe, Ibiza, Columbia, Dubai, Russia, Ayia Nappa, Turkey as well as all the major UK events in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Ireland as well the twice-yearly industry showpiece Chuff Chuff.

Jeff also managed the Miss Moneypennys Record label and after being a huge success in Europe for their tours. Jeff has also worked with DJ/Producer Jim’Shaft’Ryan, producing the Miss Moneypenny’s Ibiza 2007 album, the 2008 album a Glamorous Taste of Ibiza and The Girls Of Miss Moneypenny’s 2009 album. Jeff was a fixture on the glam Bar/Club circuit throughout the UK playing regularly whilst also spinning in his home city of Birmingham including the hugely successful GLAS events, IF@ Bushwhackers, Bambu, Fuel and the massive Bank Holiday special events, Smile.

Moving to Malaysia in 2014, he has, until recently been Music Director for Marini’s on 57, during which he’s overseen the It’s All About House series of events and played alongside many a DJ legend visiting and playing at the Rooftop bar including Marshall Jefferson, Simon Mills, Jose Padilla, Felix Da Housecat, Rob Roar, Ken Fan, Mark Robinson, the Mambo Brothers, David Morales, Roger Sanchez and more, as well as lend a hand in the production of all three of the bars’ special releases of the Sunset Hours compilation releases.

The reason behind Jeff’s success has always been the dance floor. He constantly plays to different cities and different countries and the one factor always shines through and that is his natural ability to adapt and keep the dance floor enthralled.

Alex Martin has been a fixture in the local and regional scene now for the better part of this new decade. Custodian of deep, rhythmic dance beats and a care-free atmosphere.  That’s how Alex describes himself as a DJ, never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Today this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best – beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks.. all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat.

As resident and founder of the underground house club, Quinte, along with KL techno-house veteran DJ Kuma, from its conception in 2010 to 2016, Quinte was notably one of the clubs that stuck to a strict underground music policy.

And since July 2017, he’s co-founded and runs one of the most talked about Pool Parties in the Kuala Lumpur scene in recent years, Daydream Sunday Pool Parties.

He has graced the podium alongside names such as Marco Bailey, Jay Lumen, Mark Farina, Daniel Portman, Marco Loco, Ahmet Sendil, Randy Seidman, Graham Gold, Nakadia and many more. He is also a frequent guest resident in Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, Jungle Experience, Sramanora Waterfall Party, Echo Beach and Mellow Mountain Full Moon Night.
