The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will perform this Sunday at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas this 13 January 2019 under the baton of new resident conductor Gerard Salonga with renowned pianist Llŷr Williams joining them for this Sunday’s 3pm concert.
Gerard Salonga is currently the music director of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra in Manila, and in January 2019 begins his term as Resident Conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. For two seasons, Gerard served as Assistant Conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Welsh pianist Llŷr Williams is widely admired for his profound musical intelligence, and for the expressive and communicative nature of his interpretations. A regular performer in the Wigmore Hall’s main piano series, in 2014 Williams embarked on a complete Beethoven Piano Sonata Cycle spread over three years, both at the Wigmore Hall and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff.
