The Lonely Hearts Club taking place on 20 August 2022 at The Bee Publika was initially meant as an anti-Valentine's gig in February. It turned out to be a mini tour led by An Honest Mistake. The band, together with Reckless Escapades, Maruxa Lynd and Emo Night KL headed up North (Ipoh and Penang) and then down South (Johor Baru and Melaka). Now that things in KL have opened up, the crew will be having a 'finale' show with a lineup that you won't want to miss. An Honest Mistake has always been big on harnessing and supporting up and coming acts, and this is yet another effort to push that agenda.
Since August is Merdeka month, the band together with 11 other performers are showcasing their music at The Bee, Publika from 5pm onwards this 20 August 2022. Let’s show our patriotism by coming out to the show and discovering all the amazing homegrown artists ranging from Pop Punk to R&B. Whatever you want, they've got it. It's going to be a 7-hour long party with drinks from the good people of Tiger Beer and Jameson; and for the more adventurous, get inked by the experts of Electric Dreams Tattoo Collective.
**Early Bird and Pre-Sale tickets have been sold out. Regular tickets are now available at RM60 from https://thelonelyheartsclub.peatix.com
Here's a brief rundown of who the acts are:
An Honest Mistake
If you're looking for a good headbanging session, these guys are your IT guys. The band has successfully put out multiple albums and singles (including music videos) over the years and are still going at it strong. Initially started off as a happy pop punk band, the band now have gone a little darker, a little bit more atmospheric and a whole lot more emo. A good rocking time is what you can expect from the band.
Emo Night KL
Led by Aida Azrin aka Aidaho and the team at GoodnightKL, she's the maestro behind some of your favourite 2000s' tunes. Possibly the soundtrack (s) of your lives. Together with Sam Diana and most times, Darren AHM, you'll be screaming your lungs out to emo anthems from My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard, All American Rejects, Secondhand Serenade and the occasional Cast of Glee. Emo Night KL will be closing the night so you best believe that it'll be the perfect ender to a great show.
Reckless Escapades & Maruxa Lynd
Making waves in the R&B and Hip Hop scene, Reckless Escapades is no stranger to the scene. Started out in an emo band, Throne Away in the early 2000s', he's been in it long enough to know that churning out good music consistently is the key. With collabs as an artist and a producer, he's the next IT guy for great music. Together with his wife, Maruxa Lynd (with roots in pop punk and rock and hit tracks like 'Kopi Mampos'), they've been the talk of the town and have been featured multiple times on popular Asian Hip Hop news site, DaAsianHipHop and were part of several instalments of USA based online concert, The Joy Ruckus Club. You'll be grooving with them for sure.
Not your usual run of the mill pop punk band, Ix:Chel will make sure you do the 2-step with their brand of pop punk. High energy, great vocal harmonies and a vibe that will keep you wanting for more. They are the next big pop punk band in Malaysia.
Late Night Frequency
Dance rock at its finest. LNF will take you back to the 80s where dream pop was born. Expect synths, flashy outfits, a good dance time and a wolf who plays the saxophone. It can't get any better than this.
With all the hard hitting bands on this lineup, we gotta balance it out with some chill out tunes of FUAD. A brother-sister duo, be prepared to be taken away on a journey. You could probably disappear for a while with them. If you're into Slowdive, Muse, Elliot Smith, you'd love them.
A singer-songwriter and a law practicioner, cherrieskink's brand of pop is eargasm-worthy.
Born into a family of creative minds, Silver Lim discovered her love for music at a young age and continues to create art, conveying deep-seated emotions through pieces that reflect her life. Further pursuing her passion in music, specifically RnB, Soul and Pop, the young artist decided to further her studies in Korea, majoring in the composition of contemporary music which focuses on interpretations of old school and current day style that is often used to compliment each other in creating the perfect tune.
They say R&B is 'baby-making music' and Dan$on proves that it is, in fact, TRUE. Ipoh born and bred, it's amazing to hear killer music coming out of this tall handsome man.
If you're into Bryson Tiller, you'd love Brendonsevan. He's a great producer, singer and a writer. Also from Ipoh, the self produced artist would make you groove all night long.
A little bit of indie pop, a little bit of post rock, and a whole lot of shoegaze, Islands will make sure you have a good time. They've been featured in various compilations and listicles from JUICEMY to NME, you know they're here to stay.
