Elysium is back and has been returning to the scene the past couple of weeks. Makeshift by Elysium, moves just a step away from its former setting into the Downtown Central area on the edgier side of Bukit Bintang along the Jalan Mesui stretch. The roof of 31, Jalan Mesui, KL (once the home of Nagaba KL) is now home to a couple of house and tech parties each weekend under the banner of Makeshift by Elysium.
This Friday 15 Febuary 2019 sees Friday Deviations featuring DJ Slutksi and DJ Sneaky.
Unconfined by genre, Slutski’s DJ sets feature a broad spectrum of styles. From the deepest bass and beats of house and techno through to red hot funk and disco via sophisticated indie electronica, his selections are laden with rich musicality.
Having DJed for over a decade, he is equally at home laying down energetic rhythms for sweaty dancefloors or creating a relaxed mood and ambience for more loungey settings. Often DJing using the classic vinyl format, Slutski continues to indulge his record collecting and crate digging addiction.
He has featured on the DJ line-ups of clubs and club nights organised by purveyors of quality dance music in Kuala Lumpur such as Ohrwurm, The Other Party, Soul Content, The Deer Society and of course, The Sweatbox and clubs such as Elysium Bar & Terrace, Pisco Bar, Kyo KL, Jiro KL and many, many more.
Sneaky is no stranger to the KL scene. You can catch his DJ sets at Jiro, Seven Bar Hartamas, Frisky Bar, Winezulu and DWP Bar.
On Saturday 16 February 2019 the Beatmilitia Collective bring you the Beatmilitia Jam Session, already into Volume 3 at Makeshift by Elysium featuring Jeff Jefferson, Grey (Beatmilitia) of Stellar Dreams, ANRK and Timothy Dames.
Jeff Jefferson’s career began in the early 90s all the way back in Birmingham, UK, and quickly established himself as a key DJ on the UK house scene playing legendary clubs such as SLAG, Wobble and most notably Miss Moneypennys. It was this heavyweight of international glamorous clubbing that really took notice of Jeff Jefferson’s talent and made him a fixture on all their key events around Europe.
Jeff played all the major events for Miss Moneypenny’s in Europe, Ibiza, Columbia, Dubai, Russia, Ayia Nappa, Turkey as well as all the major UK events in Manchester, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Ireland as well the twice-yearly industry showpiece Chuff Chuff.
Moving to Malaysia in 2014, he has, until recently been Music Director for Marini’s on 57, during which he’s overseen the It’s All About House series of events and played alongside many a DJ legend visiting and playing at the Rooftop bar including Marshall Jefferson, Simon Mills, Jose Padilla, Felix Da Housecat, Rob Roar, Ken Fan, Mark Robinson, the Mambo Brothers, David Morales, Roger Sanchez and more, as well as lend a hand in the production of all three of the bars’ special releases of the Sunset Hours compilation releases.
Grey (Beatmilitia) of Stellar Dreams. KL-based synthwave duo Stellar Dreams comprising of Iqwan Ridzuwan (Jake) and Khairil Shah (Grey) has already been making waves in the European scene with their brand of the 80s disco revivalism in darker shades mixed with a delicious blend of the smooth synthwave.
Ash Khilnani aka ANRK is a Malaysian based DJ/Producer who has been DJing and producing since the year 2012. He started as a producer and then subsequently started DJing in hopes that his productions will reach out to more people. He's impressed crowds with his live sampling, live remixing and back to back sets with some of the most well-known DJ's here. He has remixed, played alongside, opened for and collaborated with quite a few well-known artists from all over the world including : KHSMR, Headhunterz, Uberjak’d, Wiwek, Stereoheroes, Dimatik, DJ Femme, Jeff Jefferson, Goldfish & Blink, JP Lantieri.
Ash is not just a DJ but also a versatile producer whose productions have reached the hearts of people in KL and across the globe with tracks released under Modem Records, Love International (also as label manager), Heavy Records, House Audio Records (Virginia). Ash's sets vary depending on the crowd he plays for and is versatile when it comes to astounding you with his mixes be they Deep, Tech or Soulful House or even Electro House.
Tim also known as Timothydames as his previous moniker was only a post graduate in prestigious international School of Audio Engineering – SAE, Melbourne before discovering his passion in the art of DJ-ing. Within 2 years of DJ-ing, he joined BOOM RECORDS & since then have been actively involved himself in the nightlife scene around Kuala Lumpur. In his stairway to music discovery, he realises his passion for sounds of Funk, Disco, Soul House, and Techno. Tim is also seen around KL playing sultry R&B and Hip Hop.
