After co-organizing the highly successful Syok Rock event with Drum Asia in January 2024, Sid Menon is excited to announce the launch of his new venture, "Sid Menon Presents". The debut event, Sonic Circus, will be held at Merdekarya this 28 September 2024, and promises to be a night of electrifying indie music, bringing together some of the most exciting talents from the local scene. This immersive musical experience will showcase the raw energy of seasoned acts alongside the fresh sounds of emerging artists.
Headlining this inaugural Sonic Circus editionwill be Malaysia's indie rock powerhouses Nakedbreed, along with performances by The Baby Cosmos, Cats IN Love and AVA.
Nakedbreed: Formed in 1998, Nakedbreed is a powerhouse in Malaysia’s indie rock scene. With hits like ‘Tribute’ and appearances on MTV Asia, the band has opened for legends like Deep Purple and performed at major events such as Rock The World and BayBeats. Fronted by Justin (vocals, lyrics), Nakedbreed’s hard-hitting sound and legacy in Malaysia’s music scene make them an act not to miss.
The Baby Cosmos: This alternative/indie rock group has quickly gained a reputation in KL's music scene since forming in 2022. Known for their nostalgic melodies and coming-of-age themes, The Baby Cosmos draws inspiration from legendary acts like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys. Their latest single, Buying Time, has been met with rave reviews, and their energetic live shows promise a captivating performance. Wih Timothy George (lead vocals, guitar), Darrel Jacques (backing vocals, guitar), Joseph Koo (bass), Shaun Roy (drums).
Cats in Love: With over 19 years in the game, Cats in Love brings no-frills, authentic rock ‘n’ roll to the stage. Their deep connection to roots music combined with modern rock influences creates a sound that resonates with both long-time fans and new listeners. With NR Lohan (guitars, vocals), Eu Gene (bass), Ashwin Gobinath (drums), LK Wong (keyboards).
AVA: With a dreamy blend of gentle rock and dream pop, AVA has captured audiences with their experimental sounds. Their debut single, Ribs, has garnered over 10,000 streams on Spotify, and the band continues to expand its following across KL. With heartfelt performances, AVA is set to make a mark at Sonic Circus. With Kyra Muzafa (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Omar Nordin (lead guitar, backing vocals), Nimue Wafiya (bass, backing vocals) and Marsya Arisa (drums).
