New World Petaling Jaya Hotel has just introduced a delectable High Tea at its Lobby and RC Lounges. And with it being the Christmas and New Year season, it’s all decked out as a Festive High Tea.
Many of us are feeling a little blue these days, so the Festive High Tea is a fantastic way to brighten your mood and give yourself some well-deserved pampering.
At a price of RM99nett for two people, the Festive High Tea is brimming with a magnificent variety of sweet cakes and savoury canapés, as well as a generous range of coffees and teas to choose from.
For me, the most important item on a high tea menu is scones, and the New World Hotel does it just right. They offer a set of plain and raisin scones that are lightly crispy on the outside, soft yet dense on the inside and very mildly sweet. They offer a generous portion of clotted cream and strawberry jam and honey. My friend and I enjoyed every last crumb!
Other sweet delights for this Festive High Tea include Mini Chocolate Amaretto Yule Log, Apple and Cinnamon Christmas Pudding, Green Tea Tart, Christmas Chocolate Fudge Cake and Raspberry Cheesecake, all served in pairs so it's very easy to share. There’s also a sprinkling of Christmas cookies on the side. We relished them all.
The savouries make for an exciting experience on the pallet. These flavorful treats include Foie Gras Au Torchon on Brioche, Apple Chutney Smoked Salmon and Horseradish Mascarpone Mousse in Beetroot Basket, Pistachio and Cranberry Cheese Ball, and Multigrain Tart Shells filled with Crab and Eggs Mayo. We found them all very scrumptious.
The teas are by Harney & Sons and include English Breakfast, Organic Earl Grey, Ginger Oolong and Chamomile, as well as fruity varieties including Pomegranate, Jasmine, Vanilla Grapefruit and Organic Passion Plum.
And if you prefer coffee for your High Tea, there is a generous list of coffee by Nespresso including Cappuccino, Café Latte, Hot Chocolate and Iced Mocha Mint Latte.
On weekdays the Festive High Tea is served at the Lobby Lounge on the second floor. On weekends you can enjoy the food and the view on the 29th floor at the RC Lounge. Both venues provide ample space for social distancing and comfort.
Overall, we found the Festive High Tea to be a wonderful, uplifting experience and would highly recommend it as a holiday treat.
