Multiple award winning singer, songwriter, composer and producer Poova is set to serenade you at Ril’s Bangsar this Saturday 18 January 2020.
With one of the most powerful female voices in Malaysia, an award-winning debut album released independently and nominations against some of Malaysia’s greatest voices, Poovas’ skills and passion for music are second to none.
Since embarking on a professional career, she has gone from strength to strength, winning local and international independent VIMA awards and the prestigious “Best new artist” at Malaysia’s AIM21 2014 awards, with nominations for best English song and best female vocalist against such names as Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and Shila Amzah.
Poova began singing as soon as she could make noise and it wasn't long after that she started writing her own songs, playing the piano and dabbling with the guitar.
Her official music career began only in 2009 when she decided she had had enough of the daily grind and wanted to pursue her dream to have a career in music and so began performing her original songs in gigs across Kuala Lumpur, from there she has performed at many of Kuala Lumpur’s music venues some of note being MPO hall at Dewan Philharmonic Petronas, No Black Tie, Alexis and Jazz after dark in London (impromptu), Le Noir KL, Iron Fairies KL and more.
With a voice that crosses from soul to jazz to rock and into R&B, Poova encapsulates everything that a vocalist should be, versatile, powerful, sultry and sometimes just plain amazing.
