Quinte Insurrection and Shiraz Club KL 3-4 August 2018

Quinte Insurrection and Shiraz Club KL 3-4 August 2018

Call it the musical rumblings of a Quinte Insurrection this Friday with underground house, tech house, techno and everything in between. The newly built Shiraz Club in TREC hosts Quinte Insurrection, every Friday from 10pm onwards, where each week features one guest act alongside Quinte residents Alex Martin and Kuma. This Friday 3 August they welcome Circuitbreaker.

Circuitbreaker: Circuitbreaker started his passion for music in the late 80s with a love of early electro, then moving through genres such as acid house, techno, breakbeat and deep house. With a music collection that literally spans decades, his sets truly demonstrate the often clichéd ‘journey’, playing the latest rockin’ tunes, hypnotising bass lines, undiscovered gems and some pure grin inducing hands in the air classics.

Having played many clubs in the early nineties, under many different guises, he took a step back from the live scene, all the while continuing to provide a new mix every few months for those in the know. In the last couple of years, Circuitbreaker has stepped out of the shadow once more and taken to the decks, based here in KL for the most part.

Alex Martin: Custodian of deep, rhythmic dance beats and a care-free atmosphere.  That’s how Alex describes himself as a DJ, never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Today this translates into sets where he picks apart and infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best – beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks.. all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat.

A natural musician, Alex developed a passion for house music in the early 2000s and by 2010 he was playing to big room audiences at Quinte and Desire on Heritage Row, Kuala Lumpur. As the resident and founder of underground house club, Quinte, along with KL techno-house veteran DJ Kuma, from its conception in 2010 to 2016, Quinte was notably one of the clubs that stuck to a strict underground music policy.

And since July, last year, he’s co-founded and runs one of the most talked about Pool Parties in the Kuala Lumpur scene in recent years.

He has graced the podium alongside names such as Marco Bailey, Jay Lumen, Mark Farina, Daniel Portman, Marco Loco, Ahmet Sendil, Randy Seidman, Graham Gold, Nakadia and many more. He is also a frequent guest resident in Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, Jungle Experience, Sramanora Waterfall Party, Echo Beach and Mellow Mountain Full Moon Night.

Kuma: Kuma is one of the few established DJs from Malaysia who plays across Asia and Europe. With his signature underground techno and techno based sounds, he's earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across Asia, including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand), Womb (Tokyo), and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Haadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand), Epizode (Vietnam), regular Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan) appearances to add to appearances in Singapore, Macao, Yangon, Berlin, Paris, Corsica, Amsterdam, Ibiza and many more..

At home in Malaysia he’s cut a swathe through the underground since the late 1990s, from Genting Highlands to Sunway Lagoon to Jalan P. Ramlee’s Poppy Collection and Rumjungle over much of the noughties, to being co-founder along with Alex Martin of the decade crossing KL underground institution Quinte on Heritage Row during the first half of this decade, to now being resident at Le Noir KL and the Sunday Daydream Pool Party, regular appearances at The Sweatbox, Ren @ Kyo KL, Bar Zhen and more.

Also dabbling into techno productions, his two releases in the last year, Kamagra and the Acid Flux EP created waves, and with new regular radio show appearances on Frisky Radio and Ibiza Radio 1, plus a couple of EPs finalised, including his new release Saigon Express, just released on Baroque records imprint Dlimited records, there’s much more to come in the very near future.

Shiraz Club OPENS after the soft opening with their Launch on 4 August 2018 Saturday. Get set for a weekend opening party featuring Alex Martin, DJ Kuma, DJ Mie, J-Sun, DJ Eva, Kooler,  Jazzerimo, DJ Sexlane and MC Ben.
