Long standing charity retro festival RetroSunsplash (RS) will be pulling down its final curtain this July 2022 with a special weekend offering of retro music and party.
For more than a decade, the festival with a heart of charity has brought together DJs, entertainment industry heads and most importantly Retro music lovers under one roof in the name of charity.
Since its beginnings in 2011, RS had always been an annual fixture in the Klang Valley covering venus in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur such as CJs and Boulevard at Two Square PJ, Dirty Nelly's in KL, Retro Club on Asian Heritage Row, Rock Bottom Bangsar, Zero 11 Mont Kiara, Foursome JayaOne PJ, Hangover PJ.
After a two plus year hiatus since 2019, RS is back for one last blast into the past, but this time the Finale moves to Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan for a 3-day weekend experience.
The charity has always been an important driver for RS and collectively has contributed more than a quarter of a million ringgit to selected charity groups and homes targeted at unfortunate and special children around the Kang Valley.
The power of fabulous music from the retro years, be it R&B, Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz, Pop, Disco or to the tune of House music, has always been the main centrepiece of RS, while bringing in sought after DJs and Emcees who have charted the music industry path from the early years of Malaysia’s fabulous and legendary nightlife.
From the first session, since RS was conceptualised, many music lovers understood and experienced the good times of what RS had to offer and always looked forward to the next one only to reminisce the best of retro music at its zenith with the tagline of RetroSunsplash - Charity, Fabulous Music, Good Times, Great Friends.
The Thistle Hotel, Port Dickson will be the venue for the final experience for RS from 1 to 3 July 2022, being the first weekend getaway from the Klang Valley.
It's set to kick off in a beautiful setting by the pool with a barbeque welcome party on Friday night featuring Bernie and The Gurls (with Fasha Anderson and HazelineSnow) and hosted by Queen of comedy Joanne Kam. As how they would say back in the days, “The Warm Up” session.
The highlight will be on Saturday, the Finale featuring Djs who have graced, and pushed legendary Klang Valley clubs and bars of yesteryear, some of whom remain active today.
DJs to be featured will be Dr. Sam (The Jump KL), Jim (Picadilly), Desash (Modestos), Adrian G (Cafe Iguana), Jason M (Cafe Iguana), Kumaraza (The Baze), Jason Koo (DV8), Francis K (Voodoo), JD (The Jump KL), and hosted by Double D (Traxx FM) & Damian Nagalingam - a zany and legendary entertaining DJ from the crazy party days of Party Box Ipoh - and many more.
On the final day of the weekend experience just before hotel check out will be a special ensemble hosted by DJ Jazzie Jay and friends featuring a host of other djs jamming by the beautiful pool to ensure your last few hours at the hotel remain spectacular.
