We Review: Crane KL, Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur

Within the hustle and bustle in Chinatown, Crane KL, a new concept restaurant and bar has taken its striking moves. Inside this traditional oriental architectural building lies a modern yet contemporary twist of lush green atmosphere restaurant and a sexy oriental hidden gem; upstairs; the bar of course. Playing sophisticated beats to keep you entertained and a place to slip into a chilled night out.

At Crane, you’ll be greeted with cranes and the origami cranes are just so mesmerizing with a feeling that you are in another dimension of oriental and zen.

Crane serves a variety of sumptuous fusion food by their well-experienced Chef Nizam and his team. Chef Nizam has been in many famous restaurants and that gastronome experience shines through in the menu.

The Rendang Pai Ti is an absolute finger food dish you should indulge in as a starter or appetizer. You need to try it as it's a blend of 2-in-1 burst of fusion flavours. (Might be a little spicy for some, you may request to tune down the level to mild). There is a variety of appetizers/finger food to try out if you are not into a heavy meal. Great portions for 2-4pax per serving of appetizer/finger food.

We also ordered the Peruvian Salad it's absolutely refreshing. If you are not a fan of avocados. There are also other salad choices to select from.

The main courses we ordered are their signature Beef Burger and Salted Egg Pasta with Crispy Prawn. The Beef Burger was cooked at a medium level and the meat is so O-la La moist and the buns served are homemade too. Not forgetting the chips are freshly made and yes it looks like dried petals; so pretty and colourful.

The Salted Egg Pasta comes with a generous large crispy prawn. It’s absolutely divine nor overly salty or too pungent in taste. Just the right amount of sauce & ingredients used.

For the desserts, we ordered the Panna Cotta and the Gula Melaka Sago. The Gula Melaka Sago is sophisticatedly presented and who doesn’t want a picture taken for it. Both are pleasing for the eye and taste, A must order list if you visit. Not forgetting the Panna Cotta. Well, one word, delicious and perhaps you may just want to order another round since it's absolutely YUM.

 

The Hidden Gem-Bar is located inside and upstairs, a suitable hangout place before or after a meal or even both ways and a certain to be popular as the weeks go by Such a good hangout; the music is great and the ambience is just sexy-oriental.

The bar serves a variety of cocktails and drinks, which can also be curated of your own choice. Just ask Crane’s friendly mixologist, Sham.

 

The bar carries its oriental superbly and the pictures of cranes are just mesmerizing. We advise booking in advance if you are coming on Fridays and Saturdays as it may get busier than usual.
