Jonathan Cruz aka DJ SHORTKUT is driven by passion for every genre of music. Booked to play at Kyo KL on the 9th February 2018 with AKu Ash & Nahsy, Shortkut began his career in San Francisco, California in 1987 as a mobile sound-system, progressing on to competing in World DJ Championships since 1994. He has established himself as a professional DJ and global jet setter showcasing his trend-setting performances.
DJ Shortkut, is a member of 3 of the most influential DJ crews in history: The Invisibl Skratch Piklz, World Famous Beat Junkies and The Triple Threat DJs. As a seasoned veteran in battle DJ competitions, he is responsible for creating some of the most influential turntable routines of all time, literally birthing new techniques and innovations to the turntablist culture, while maintaining dance floors internationally playing the latest in music spanning countless genres.
At the forefront of DJ culture and technology, Shortkut is a featured brand ambassador for the World’s leading DJ Software company, Serato and computer technology giant Intel. He also collaborates frequently for marketing campaigns with premium brands such as Adidas, Nike, GAP, Red Bull, Casio, Roland, Pioneer DJ & GoPro Music.
While still trotting the globe to an average of over 20 countries annually, Shortkut often finds himself together with other legendary artists such as The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff, Masters At Work, Mix Master Mike, Maseo (De La Soul) Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest), DJ Premier, just to name a few, together with performances at renowned events, The Boiler Room, The Do-Over, as a resident on Damian Marley’s Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise and countless festivals around the world.
Currently, in 2018, Shortkut is expanding his repertoire with even more collaborations. He has a show on Beat Junkie Radio on DASH. He’s a judge for the DMC World DJ Championships, He’s booked with constant world tours, He’s releasing a follow-up album with The Invisibl Skratch Piklz. And there will be music of his own from his widely anticipated solo productions.
