Sing It Black this Saturday 13 April features Jeneral Kai and DJ Kuma on the roof at Le Noir KL.
Gabriel Chong has been into the music scene since the explosion of hip-hop and the birth of house music in Southeast Asia. It wasn’t until 2016 when he decided to change the course of his destiny, taking his music productions to the next level. He kick started his journey with a bold new pseudonym, JENERAL KAI.
Over the years of making music, his craft begins to shape his very own underground sound of electronics with his hypnotic grooving beats that is created from scratch. Aiming to gain international notoriety by spreading his sound across the globe, a time-consuming process that we all know it requires a lot of hard work. And by fully embracing the digital revolution, everything is possible.
Having started a label Turn It Up Recordings in Nov 2017, the label is a platform for self-release productions and ultimately a vehicle to reach out to the global house and techno enthusiasts.
2018 saw a string of consistent releases by Jeneral Kai on all major digital stores and streaming platforms. Now a full-time producer on the roll composing original tracks that have the likes and support from the world class DJs and tastemakers such as Luciano, DJ Karizma, Kölsch, Saeed Younan, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Anthony Papa and many more.
Kuma is back with his signature underground techno and techno based sounds at Le Noir KL Roof. Kuma’s earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across Asia, including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand), Womb (Tokyo), and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Haadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand), Epizode (Vietnam), regular Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan) appearances to add to appearances in Singapore, Macao, Yangon, Berlin, Paris, Corsica, Amsterdam, Ibiza and many more.
Also dabbling into techno productions, his first two releases last year, Kamagra and the Acid Flux EP created waves, and with regular radio show appearances on Frisky Radio and Ibiza Radio 1, plus a couple of EPs finalised, including his most recent release Saigon Express, released on Baroque records imprint Dlimited records, there’s much more to come in the very near future.
