Tales of the Terrace returns this Friday (25 May) at Le Noir with Darren Mac x Kuma on the roof playing you house music and eclectic.
Kuma is one of the few established DJs from Malaysia who plays across Asia and Europe. With those signature underground techno and techno based sounds, he's earned himself something of a name in the Asian underground house music community, taking the music to dance floors across Asia,
including the likes of Embassy (Philippines), Sound Club (Thailand), Womb (Tokyo), and festivals such as the Full Moon party on the beach of Haadrin in Koh Pangan (Thailand), Epizode (Vietnam), regular Jungle Experience (Koh Phangan) appearances to add to appearances in Singapore, Macao, Yangon, Berlin, Paris, Corsica, Amsterdam, Ibiza and many more..
At home in Malaysia he’s cut a swathe through the underground since the late 1990s, from Genting Highlands to Sunway Lagoon to Jalan P. Ramlee’s Poppy Collection and Rumjungle over much of the noughties, to being co-founder along with Alex Martin of the decade crossing KL underground institution Quinte on Heritage Row during the first half of this decade, to now being resident at Le Noir KL and the Sunday Daydream Pool Party, regular appearances at The Sweatbox, Ren @ Kyo KL, Bar Zhen and more.
Also dabbling into techno productions, his two releases in the last year, Kamagra and the Acid Flux EP created waves, and with new regular radio show appearances on Frisky Radio and Ibiza Radio 1, plus a couple of EPs being finalised, there’s much more to come in the very near future.
Darren Mac: Whether performing in clubs or producing music as a label partner for the highly successful LS City Records, Darren’s obsession with dance music has never been deeper.
Playing his distinct style of deep tech house and big room tribal beats, Darren brings with him a wealth of musical knowledge and experience. Originating from London, Darren’s musical journey started in the early 90s performing at many of the underground clubs and warehouse parties across the city. Not just satisfied with DJing, Darren has been involved in producing and remixing music for many high profile artists and record labels as well as promoting many of his own events. He was also a member of the award winning Club Jam which was instrumental in breaking the London underground garage scene which took over the UK’s capital in the late 90s
Prior to relocating to Asia, Darren held residencies at many of the UK’s premier clubs including Club UK, Cabello, The Complex, The Aquarium and Gass Club. Also touring with God’s Kitchen, Miss Moneypenny’s and Ministry of Sound and performing alongside Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Sasha and John Digweed at the Tribal Gathering festival.
In recent years, Darren has been a major influence in Bangkok and was instrumental in helping to build the city’s underground music scene into what it is today. Holding down residencies at legendary clubs including Q Bar, The Tunnel, Mystique and 808, and was involved in launching and promoting the infamous Twisted Republic, and since mid 2016, Le Noir KL itself, where he is one of the co-founding residents.
