Le Noir KL presents the Tech-Noir x Soul De Anima Label Party on 24 May 2018 featuring Oliver Osborne (Soul de Anima), Rory Gallagher (Soul de Anima), Miguel Matoz (Souled Records) and OtherKind (Soul De Anima, Sweatbox Records) in the Club Lounge.
Miguel Matoz: With a career in music spanning well over two decades, Miguel Matoz continues to embody the true heart and soul of house and techno into his music. With one artist album and more than 100 originals under his belt, Miguel has perfected the balance of old school and contemporary sound in his productions. With his studio fusing analogue and digital tools in abundance, Miguel has been hard at work for the best part of ten years creating a sound of his own.
His current attention is primarily devoted to Souled Records and Souled Black Recordings, the two record labels he runs out of his adopted home on the island of Koh Phangan. In the 7 years since Souled was born, it has been one of the main stables for Miguel’s material, whilst also providing a home for many emerging talents. Meanwhile, Souled Black recordings its sister label caters for more no nonsense techno and made an instant impact with its launch in 2013 debuting with an EP from Miguel’s alias ‘Instead’.
Being a core artist of Clarisse Records, Miguel has performed at many of their Clarisse Nights in some of the world’s finest venues such as Sankeys Ibiza, Sonar Barcelona, Carpe Diem Croatia and DC10, Amnesia, Queens Bora Bora, El Divino and Café del Mar in Ibiza where he was resident for 5 years, Kremlin Lisbon, Fabrik Madrid, Clash Sao Paulo, Jungle Experience in Koh Phangan, Cha Cha Moon in Koh Samui, Blanchy’s Tash in Saigon, Baby Boa and Silencio in Geneva, Blue Frog in Mumbay and many more.
In addition to his own labels, Miguel still regularly contributes to some of the scene’s biggest labels, with recent appearances on Horatio’s Natural Rhythm, Ethnik Groove, Pena’s Flow Vinyl, Baroque, Alkalino’s Audaz, Mendo’s Clarisse Records.
Oliver Osborne: Oliver Osborne moved to Singapore from London where he played at such notable clubs as Fabric, Corsica Studios, The Scala, 93feet East, and more. There he played alongside the likes of M.A.N.D.Y., Maya Jane Coles, Stefan Bodzin, Noze, and Matt Tolfrey to mention a few.
Since being in Singapore, Oliver has played virtually everywhere worth playing in the region, and in May of 2013 was part of the team that started the After Dark pop-up parties, at the hidden gem that was the original Kilo Lounge. He also brings his musical agenda to various pop-up parties around the city and runs the phenomenally successful Eyes To The Front pool parties.
Though Oliver learnt to DJ on a diet of jungle and drum’n’bass, his ear eventually turned to house and techno, and his current sound has taken him around some of Asia’s top underground clubs, such as Glow in Bangkok, Lola in Shanghai, Jenja in Bali, Volar in Hong Kong, and as far afield as Mongolia.
Rory Gallagher: In a current musical climate where originality can often be overtaken by the mundane and regular, Soul de Anima founder Rory Gallagher’s tireless devotion and relentless energy have taken him to a point where he is beginning to shape the musical world around him.
With a recent signing to Anjunadeep, productions out on Bedrock, Click, City Fox and What I Play and his music being championed by the likes of John Digweed, Hernan Catenneo, Kolsch, Guy Gerber and Joris Voorn to name a few, 2018 continues to gain momentum. 2017 saw the birth of his own imprint, Soul de Anima, gaining plaudits the world over from the HQ in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
A regular of Elysium and Le Noir KL in Kuala Lumpur and Jungle Experience and the KU Club on Koh Phangan where Rory played for almost five years. Over the last five years, Rory has also taken his sound around Asia including various clubs in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur. Tokyo and Sri Lanka for I ♥ UNA festival.
Otherkind: Hailing from Tehran, Otherkind is an exciting DJ with a decade and a half of underground experience under his belt. Mastering the art of playing Iranian percussion instrument Tumbak as well, allows him to incorporate a specifc style to his DJ sets, playful and solid and at the same time smooth and melodic. Breezing through music genres Otherkind's focus is on deep house and techno and his journey is uplifting, sensible and epic. Having graced the decks in some of Turkey's and Dubai's underground clubs in 2008 marked another step in OtherKind's evolution and a subtle shift in his take on music.
2010 marked Otherkind's move to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) where has hosted residencies in Vertigo Club , iClub, and playing in Malaysia's most renowned club Aristo by Zouk and further becoming a resident DJ of Casbah and Sultan Lounge at Mandarin Oriental. Marinis On 57, Nagaba, Elysium, Kyo KL have seen OtherKind behind the decks on numerous occasions. From huge festival crowds to club gigs, he manages to transform his audience and to transpond them into a different dimension. Almost spatial, his sounds are ever evolving and this year his ongoing music projects, once completed will surely grant us yet another display of his ever growing talent and proof that his music does connect people.
